Seven years ago, a brand new land opened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and quickly became one of the most popular lands in the entire park.
That land was Pandora, which brough the beauty seen in the Avatar movies to stunning biolumiescent life in Disney World. It also brought some great food at Satu’li Canteen (we’ll always be grateful for Cheeseburger Pods), as well as two new rides. Now, seven years later, one of those rides is still the most popular in Disney World.
That ride is Flight of Passage, which takes you on a beautiful journey through Pandora on the back of a banshee, as seen in the first Avatar movie. The ride is breathtaking, and is so popular that it often has multi-hour waits, even during quieter periods in Disney World.
Of course, yesterday was NOT a quiet period, being the day after Christmas, so we saw pretty high wait times for Flight of Passage. In fact, it had the highest wait time of any ride in Disney World yesterday at 160 minutes (about 2.6 hours). Yes, seven years after this ride first opened, people are waiting over two hours to ride it.
Of course, if you want to skip the long standby line, Flight of Passage is offered as a Lightning Lane Single Pass option. If it’s a priority ride for you, especially during the holidays, the investment may just be worth it because it will save you a lot of time.

False! The favorite ride of 90% of the guests I interact with at Disney World is Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind. Second and third would be Rise of the Resistance and Tron. You cannot simply use wait times to determine the most popular ride especially since Cosmic Rewind is still utilizing virtual queue and Flight of Passage has an extremely slow load & unload process.
