Disney Shared a Video of Figment and We’re Worried About His Future

Oh Figment, we love ya. This Disney park icon has become synonymous with EPCOT, and there’s a reason for his popularity.

But, Figment’s ride — Journey Into Imagination with Figment — has gone through a few changes in its day, both in name and overall ride elements, and a new video shared by Disney has us thinking something new might be in store for this purple dragon.

Figment recently took a trip to California! He visited Walt Disney Studios to hang out with Cast Members and get some inspiration, according to Disney.

Inspiration for what, though? Is Disney trying to tell us that Figment is dreaming up something new… for his own ride? In typical Disney fashion, this cryptic video showing Figment meeting and greeting employees around the studios was about all we’ve got, so of course, we’re speculating wildly as to what it might mean.

Journey Into Imagination with Figment is the third iteration of this ride, and many fans miss the original ride from the 1980s with the Dreamfinder. The second version of the ride was despised by many fans and didn’t last long. Disney quickly closed that ride and replaced it with Journey Into Imagination with Figment, what we have today, in 2002. Figment, however, has been featured in all three versions — making him an iconic part of EPCOT history.

Though, with the EPCOT Transformation almost fully complete, Disney could choose to bring a bit of a refresh to Journey Into Imagination with Figment — we just hope they don’t fully overhaul it and turn it into something fans aren’t too happy with again.
