Walt Disney World seems always to have a handful (or more!) of construction walls in its Parks and Resorts. With all of the current, ongoing projects, there are still a few projects we wonder about.

The last two years have changed the plan on several major Disney projects, and some might not ever come to fruition.
Are these Disney World projects really scrapped? Let’s take a look!
Festival Pavilion
One project that was set to come to EPCOT during its massive transformation was the Festival Pavilion. This space was set to be a part of the new World Celebration with three floors to serve as festival and gathering spaces.

Disney has not announced that this project is scrapped, but a model of the pavilion was removed from The EPCOT Experience, and Disney started calling it a festival area instead of a festival center.

This may mean that the Festival Pavilion will not come to fruition, but it’s hard to say considering the concept model is still a part of the large EPCOT model in The EPCOT Experience display. We’ll have to keep waiting for an official update from Disney World or until World Celebration seems completed.
Mary Poppins Area
The EPCOT Transformation was also supposed to feature a Mary Poppins-themed neighborhood and attraction in EPCOT’s U.K. Pavilion. Not many details were shared with its announcement, but we (and many of you) were excited to learn more.

Unfortunately, with the park closure last year, Disney announced that development on this area has been postponed indefinitely. It’s possible the area will still happen in the future, but as far as Disney has announced, it’s not coming anytime soon.
Spaceship Earth Refurbishment
Spaceship Earth tends to get a major refurbishment every so often to keep up with the times. Prior to the park closures, Disney had announced that a major refurbishment was coming to this attraction to bring it up to date, change the narration, and add a story light.

Then, with the closure, it was announced that the refurbishment would be postponed indefinitely. Now, we would guess that this one is not scrapped as Spaceship Earth is an iconic attraction that is in need of an update. We expect Disney will add Spaceship Earth to the refurb docket at some point.
Beatrix
Disney Springs was set to get an all-new eatery called Beatrix. This spot was set to serve a wide variety of eats, with a tilt toward healthier options.

Construction walls are still up around the location Beatrix would’ve inhabited, but we haven’t seen movement on the location since Disney Springs closed last year. Construction progress has been officially paused since Summer 2020. The space is still set for Beatrix, so the project is not scrapped (as far as we know) — just on hold.
Ample Hills Creamery
Ample Hills Creamery was an ice cream shop with a location on Disney’s BoardWalk and an upcoming location at Disney Springs. Unfortunately, due to the global health crisis, Ample Hills went bankrupt and was bought out. The location was removed from BoardWalk.

Due to this changeover, it’s possible that an Ample Hills location will never come to Disney Springs. But there’s no ice cream shortage, with Ghirardelli and other locations still dishing it out. Plus, Disney Springs is getting a Salt & Straw location.
Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge
Disney had announced a new Disney Vacation Club hotel for a piece of land near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground where River Country Water Park used to be.

There was no official announcement, but construction equipment has been pulled out of the area, and we stopped seeing permits filed for the resort. As of now, it does seem that Reflections has been tabled indefinitely.
What do you think about these Disney projects? Tell us in the comments!
I hope that all of these scrapped attractions actually get built for real? Especially the Reflections Lakeside Lodge Resort, Hotel and Spa. Because once Disney announces stuff at d23, it means it’s going to happen.
I’m most disappointed by the Mary Poppins news. The UK pavilion needs an attraction and a Mary Poppins theme would be the perfect fit.
I’m sad to see the Poppins attraction at EPCOT ending before it even began. So much promise.
As for Reflections, no big loss. The last thing we need is a DVC with a message. That area near Ft. Wilderness cries out for a western themed hotel to tie it in with the Wilderness Lodge.
