You’ll Be SHOCKED How Long Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups Were Open Today

While the Disney Parks tend to be pretty busy throughout the entirety of the year, every once in a while you might find yourself visiting when things are less crowded. And, the past few weeks have been just that!

Few crowds in Galaxy’s Edge!

Recently, we’ve been seeing low wait times for popular attractions across all four theme parks in Disney World, and yesterday we even walked on to Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. And, it looks like the low crowd levels are continuing today and those visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios are in luck if they want to ride Rise of the Resistance!

This morning around 9AM, we opened up the My Disney Experience app and noticed that the “Join Virtual Queue” button was still blue, making it look like boarding groups were available a full 2 hours after they opened at 7AM.

We had a Park Pass Reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios (which is needed to join a group in the morning), so we clicked the button to see if it really could be true. And, it was!

Normally, Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups are gone within seconds of the clock striking 7AM, and the only times that we really see the virtual queue open longer than that is in the afternoon on less crowded days. But, today the queue was open until close to 10AM.

In the past, we’ve also seen Rise of the Resistance open up the standby queue in cases where all Boarding Groups have been able to ride before the park has closed. So, could this happen again today, enabling people to ride it more than once in both the virtual queue and the standby queue later? We’ll just have to wait and see!

So, if you’re headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today it looks like you might be treated to low crowd levels and a ride on Rise of the Resistance. Of course, we’ll continue to keep you up to date with everything that you need to know before you head to the parks, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more!

  1. I rode on Tuesday at 8:30pm with my mom, and we were the ONLY people on the ride the entire way through! Our first time 🙂 And boarding groups were open all day.

  2. This has gone beyond a “slow time” based on news reports I have been reading both resort hotel occupancy and park attendance has been dropping for a period of weeks.
One report indicated park attendance was dropping at a rate of 10% a week. These reports have indicated that COVID is the reason but I believe price is becoming a factor as well.
All ears should begin questioning the lower attendance and not imply that lower wait times are a benefit since they reflect an underlying problem.

    1. Boo Bash tickets have sold out. Schools have started back and anyone who’d ordinarily go at this time of year is waiting for October for the 50th Anniversary to kick off. COVID is definitely a reason as number of people flying has fall across the country. No, this isn’t unique to Disney nor does it seem to have anything to do with ticket prices which were actually higher in July than now.

  3. A week might be a slow period but three or four weeks of short lines and lower wait times would seem to indicate that fewer people are willing to go to WDW. This was also supported by some news outlet reports indication the resort hotel occupancy rates and park attendance is declining. The reports indicate it is due to COVD but I believe price is also a factor.
Why hasn’t “All Ears” brought this to the attention of its readers.

  4. Visiting during slow times of the year will get you on rides faster. Now, it’s just a lack of tourists willing to be fleeced by WDW.

    1. Boo Bash sold out. And let’s see what attendance looks like with the 50th Anniversary starts next month. That’s caused people who might go now to wait a month especially with a new attraction opening then.
