We’ve already seen quite a few April showers across Florida’s theme parks through the first few weeks of the month! And, as we inch closer towards May, hurricane season is just around the corner with predictions stating it will most likely have above normal activity.
Still, the summer is one of the hottest times of the year in Florida as the sunshine draws crowds to Disney World over the prime vacation time. Since there’s a balance between rainy and sunny days, it’s important to keep up with the weather forecast during your trip. But, you won’t want to fully believe those predictions.
Florida’s weather itself is known to be SUPER unpredictable. The forecast could hold out for sunshine, but random showers still may happen at any point during the day.
On the other hand, predicted rainfall could range from being a quick shower or a drizzle to a practical monsoon like the one we saw the other day. The actual rain could be better or worse than what the weather says it will be.
Sometimes there may be the prediction of rain, and it doesn’t rain at all. Just yesterday in the parks, the forecast noted that it would be raining all day — and, that definitely wasn’t the case!

Due to the unpredictability of the weather, it’s important to check the forecast while preparing for a totally different outcome at the same time. You’ll want to pack your day bags accordingly, meaning you’re going to want to have both items like sunscreen AND a rain poncho ready to go.
Just in case the weather forecast is correct, you’ll still want to pack and dress according to the favored outcome for the day. We recommend even adding a few versatile options into your wardrobe, including a pair of shoes that work on both hot and rainy days.

We were at Hollywood Studios yesterday; weather was forecasted as 100% rain. They were so right! I came out of Walt Disney One Mans Dream show into one woman’s nightmare. Torrential rain, wind, thunder and lightning prevailed for over two hours. Ponchos, raincoats, umbrellas sprang into action. We still got soaked. Squishy socks, new sneakers drenched. We ran through puddles and squeezed through crowds cowering under anything that kept the rain out. Why were we risking our very lives? To get in line for Rise of the Resistance of course! It was worth every drop. Clothes and shoes eventually dry. Those memories will last a lifetime
Isn’t this the truth! Our arrival day in March was supposed to be the worst! Rain all day predicted, monsoon type. We came prepared with ponchos, umbrellas, jackets with hoods, change of socks…….we got sprinkles. For like five minutes. Not complaining! I’m so glad we were prepared! We were happy to have the jackets as it was cool that day, and for several mornings of our trip. But boy were we glad they were wrong about the rain!
I know a lot of people don’t want to be tethered to their phones while at WDW, but a good weather App with radar is invaluable when trying to decide if you’re going to ride it out or head for the exit. There’s nothing worse than getting all the way from the back of the park just as the skies part and the sun comes out
