If there’s anything we know about Disney as a company, it’s that they’re nearly always planning for the future!

They’re constantly building new hotels, theme park attractions, planning new films and shows, and they likely have tons of other projects that fans don’t even know about. However, sometimes we get a glimpse of things that may be in the works, and that’s the case today, as Disney may be looking to build another residential and commercial community in Florida!
According to the Orlando Business Journal, Disney is currently in talks with Tavistock Development Co. LLC about building a mixed-use community in Lake Nona, FL. This development would be located in southeast Orlando, and the planning is in the early stages, so it’s possible that the deal may not occur.

However, if the deal does go through, it would likely be a grand success for Disney. This area sits 18 miles away from Walt Disney World and would benefit from the red-hot real estate market in Orlando. It would also draw in potential buyers simply because of Disney’s involvement.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Disney has done something like this. As Orlando Business Journal reported, back in 1994, they broke ground on the mixed-use development of Celebration, FL near the theme parks. Nowadays, Disney World is home to its own luxury community, Golden Oak, and the company is developing the Flamingo Crossings Town Center area right outside of Disney World property.

Neither Disney nor Tavistock have commented on these talks, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated with any more news we receive. Another Disney-owned community would be a big project that many fans would likely be interested in!
