Why Magic Kingdom Is our Favorite Park

For a fourth week in a row, I find myself stating how we really hate to play favorites. Yet here we are again!

First, we explained why Animal Kingdom is our favorite park. Then, our views shifted so we wrote why Epcot is our favorite park. And last week, we changed our mind for a third time so we shared why Hollywood Studios is our favorite park.

So it should come as a shock to no one that we’ve changed our opinion yet again.

Here are 5 reasons why Magic Kingdom is our favorite park:

1. Holiday Parties

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

What’s better than trick-or-treating and Christmas cookies? Trick-or-treating and Christmas cookies at the Magic Kingdom!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are special events that happen every fall and winter at the Magic Kingdom. A select number of tickets are sold, and the park transforms accordingly. From decor to exclusive shows and entertainment, and holiday treats to special character appearances, Magic Kingdom’s Holiday Parties are one of my favorite things in all of Walt Disney World!

2. Conquering the Mountains

Splash Mountain

Magic Kingdom’s Mountains are some of the most beloved attractions in all of Walt Disney World — but have you ever attempted the Magic Kingdom Mountain Challenge? It’s when you ride all three, scratch that FOUR, Magic Kingdom peaks in one day!

The original challenge included Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. And with the addition of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the challenge now includes four thrills! Are you up for it?

3. Fireworks and Parades

Happily Ever After

When I think “Walt Disney World,” I immediately think of fireworks over Cinderella Castle and Mickey floating down Main Street U.S.A. And you can’t find that anywhere but Magic Kingdom!

Currently, the fireworks spectacular is called Happily Ever After, and the parade is the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Both are spectacular and full of Disney magic! In fact, you may be so overwhelmed with pixie dust that you cry, just a little bit. (Or is that just me?)

4. Classic Attractions

Dumbo

Not only is Magic Kingdom home to the Mountains, but many of the most iconic Disney attractions reside in its themed lands.

We’re talking Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion, Dumbo, Mad Tea Party, and the Jungle Cruise… just to name a few.

These are the attractions that Walt and his original Imagineers dreamed up, and there is something extra special about that.

5. All the Little Things

Truthfully, there are lots of little reasons why the Magic Kingdom is our favorite: The Dapper Dans. Nutella Waffle Sandwiches. Hugging Ariel. The Purple Wall. Tinker Bell’s flight. The smell of the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. The Cinderella Fountain. The Wishing Well. The Emporium. Dole Whips. Meeting Mickey. The moment you turn down Main Street USA and first see the Castle.

There isn’t really a way to express what the Magic Kingdom means to us, so we will leave you with this:

“Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney… and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney’s dream come true. May Walt Disney World bring Joy and Inspiration and New Knowledge to all who come to this happy place… a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn — together.” – Roy O. Disney, Walt Disney World Dedication Speech
