Disney After Hours is one way to enjoy either the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom with little to no wait times for rides, meet and greets, and more. Disney just announced new dates for this special event at all three parks.
Plus, two of the dates in May for Hollywood Studios‘ After Hours include some very special events!
New Disney After Hours Dates:
Magic Kingdom: May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: May 7, 14 and 21; and June 4, 11 and 18.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: May 1, 4, 10, 17, 24 and 31; and June 14, 21 and 28.
Disney After Hours events give you access to the park and select attractions and rides for three hours after regular park hours. Attendance is limited allowing for very short — sometimes even NO — wait time for attractions, experiences and character greetings. And that isn’t all — the After Hours ticket lets you enter the park beginning at 7 p.m. Plus you can take advantage of free bottled drinks and snacks!
And at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are two special celebration nights:
May 1 – Celebrate Disney’s Hollywood Studios 30th anniversary with special anniversary merchandise, additional character greetings and more food & beverage offerings to purchase.
May 4 – Celebrate May the Fourth dressed in your favorite Star Wars costume (be sure your costume is within Disney’s costume guidelines). You can participate in character encounters including Chewbacca with Rey (I’m dying to meet her!), Darth Vader, Kylo Ren with CAPTAIN PHASMA!, Ewoks, Jawas and Imperial Stormtroopers. Plus, specialty treats will be available for purchase.
All Disney After Hours event tickets cost $125 + tax for advance purchase and $129 + tax for day-of purchases. Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Passholders do receive a discounted price of $95 + tax.

I am not going until the end of August and am fully prepared to pay if they would just open these after hour events for my stay. However I am worried that the Toy Story After Dark event might be dicontinued with the opening of Star Wars new attractions. I want to combine these late night events with low lines as extra park time after a day at the water parks but they have to open my dates first. However I have 2 more months before my fast pass deadlines and final trip payment is due to Disney.Wish me luck.
Our family tried this out on March 23rd at DHS. It was some of the best money ever spent. No wait was over 20 minutes. We rode slinky dog 5 times, Rockin’ Roller coaster 5 times (one in our party rode is 9 times), Toy Story Mania a couple times and Tower of Terror 3 times. All told I think we all rode at least 10-15 rides that night and they were the good ones. They also don’t require park admission in addition to the After hours price. We looked at it as paying for a mega fastpass but if you were in town for a couple days it would also be worth it. The free drinks, popcorn and ice cream put a nice little bow on the whole experience. I hope they extend it through the end of the year and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will be included.
I have been going to Disney for over 40 years , since I was a child , then took my Kids , now taking my Grandchildren.
We go yearly, but some of my best memories were walking down main street at midnight, getting some ice cream , then walking through the emporium and walking back to the Contemporary.
Unfortunately over the past few years it’s less late nights , now you have to pay over $100 a piece to stay late , so to give the grandkids those memories , cost the grandparents $400 dollars.
Maybe Disney should be happy & appreciate that you come back year after year & spend a fortune, instead of try to get more & more money out of you to be able to stay at the Magic Kingdom late.
