D23 Flowers and Fireworks Celebration 2010 – Part 4

Flower and Fireworks Celebration Logo

This blog will cover the final evening of D23’s Flower and Fireworks Celebration.

After the morning sessions, we had free time to roam the parks and catch the last day of the Flower and Garden Festival.

I enjoyed dinner with some friends and then went over to Epcot for the final 2 events of the D23 Flowers and Fireworks Celebration.

First off, reserved seating for the Flower Power Concert with Chubby Checker and the Wildcats. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves except to say, this was a VERY entertaining, high energy show. The time went way to quickly!

Chubby invited the ladies in the audience to come on stage and sing and dance with him. Many D23 members as well others in the audience went up and had a blast.

Next, our final event, a private IllumiNations Dessert party in the Italy Isola. We weren’t sure if the rain would hold off, but it did, mostly. The one time it started to drizzle, out came all the rain ponchos so we would stay dry.

Desserts were great!

Thanks to Sharon Sipple for photographing the D23 event for AllEars®. I would also like to thank D23, Barry and all the presenters who made the entire event very special. Highlights for me were the talks by … I started to list my favorites and then realized I enjoyed all the presentations. Each one was unique and interesting.

A number of your have asked if I felt it was worth the price of $195. Realizing that special events have an expensive price tag everywhere at Disney – I did feel it was worth the money and very glad I attended the Flowers and Fireworks Celebration 2010.

It was great meeting so many fellow D23 members and also many AllEars® fans!

I look forward to the announcement of another D23 event at Walt Disney World!

  1. Deb, I really enjoyed reading about this event, and also wanted to say that Sharon’s photos were wonderful and really added to your written account.

  2. I had a great time! I think it was well worth the money spent. My only comments were that as Eric stated above the gifts could have been better, maybe a pin! I also went to the event in March and this one was much better, but in March the allowed us to purchase D23 merchandise and they we not set up very well to do it, I think they missed a great opportunity before or after breakfast to have a set up for us to make some purchases! Other than that everything was AWESOME and I hope they have an event for the food and wine festival!!

  3. I really enjoyed myself at this event, but I’m still not entirely convinced that it was cost-effective, particularly considering I obtained my Gold D23 membership specifically to be eligible to attend. If they were going to provide keepsake gifts, they might have been better thought out (I talked to a lot of people that had the same issues I did with the straw hat — they wouldn’t fit — & the gift bag provided at the breakfast was basically just advertisement for various products). All-in-all, it was a good time with some really good food, but…

  4. Hmm…may have to reconsider joining D23 if there are more events like this one. By the way, those are some magnificent Illumninations pictures!

  5. Great report Deb. I hesitate to sign up for the more expensive events. After reading your report I now know it’s not to be missed:)

Deb: Each event has it’s own flavor. Overall I have been very pleased with the D23 events I have attended. In all honesty, I was disappointed with the 1st Anniversary event at WDW that was held in March. This one I really enjoyed a great deal!!!

  6. Thank you for the report. I already had ressies for the Epcot Garden Town Breakfast that weekend with family (which was very good) or I would have attended the Flowers & Fireworks event (although I was leery of the price). Now I know that if they have it next year that it will be worth the money and I would definitely attend it.

Thank you again for all you do – I love this website.

  7. Wow! What was that apple and strawberry tart thing and was it as delicious as it looked? More importantly, do you know any place in WDW that normally offers it?

    Thanks, Wendy

  8. Thanks for the report Deb! We were there at the time of the event but decided to pass on this one due to the price.

Our experience at the D23 Fantasyland event made us a little gun-shy.

I’m so glad to find out the you enjoyed it and found it to be worth the price.
