(I purchased paid Lightening Lane on a holiday trip to the Magic Kingdom)
Oh, where to begin......should I start with the excessive wait time between rides (2 hours); or the fact that all rides are gone by noon on a busy day; or that the time you actually get the fast pass is not the time you requested, it is usually about an hour later than the time you requested; or what about how much of the day is taken up by nervously staring at your phone hoping, against hope, that your family gets the fast pass they want; or the expense--yay! I used to get these for free, thanks for the money grab...and then more good news, the most popular rides are a separate cost.
Needless to say, I am not a fan of paid Lightening Lanes, or more so, I am not a fan of paying for a service I do not receive.
Pros:
The idea is sound; Pay a little extra and get to ride all the popular rides without a long wait. Unfortunately, Disney has not succeeded in making it happen.Cons:

We love Disney and have been always pleasantly surprised with the improvements that DW comes up with every couple years when we return but This Genie + service to substitute free pass is the biggest mistake Disney has implemented: we would much rather pay for more money in the overall ticket price so everyone would have free pass to use and come back in a reasonable time overall instead now with long long standby line for everyone.

Unless everyone in your parties all willing to take the exact the same type/level of thrills, plus plan earlier and arrive park early and strictly stick to the plan, this Genie + pass is totally useless. We have purchased one at 11:00am for Magic Kingdom and 8:30am for Hollywood studio, both enable us with one ride in a day for not too ultimate choice of the ride. I remember the days where IT DIDN'T COST ANYTHING to go get a fast pass ticket from the machine near the ride, and come back later for your ride. That FREE service with a little more walking got us more rides, less hassle, and less tech irritation than Disney's connection dropping, slow loading, \"retry because your slot filled up\", book at 7am or you get nothing, lucky if you get 1 ride out of it, \"Genie+ - phenomenal cosmic power at your fingertips\" frustration. Oh, and Genie+ costs good money! We literally travelled across the continent, paid more, and got less out of it. It almost feels like theft.
For Disney's usual amazing experience, this was the worst, and I'm frankly surprised at how bad it is. I'm also surprised that Disney's usual stringent and strict QA would have EVER let that pass on to use for millions of guests.
Guest Relations being amazing and positive is the ONLY reason I got any use out of my Genie+ purchase. Thank God for them.

We just got back from Disney. Genie plus was a total waste of money we got maybe 1 lightening lane ride a day. I think it is crap that you can only book one ride at a time for the price. At least with the individual lightening you knew if you were going to get the ride before you paid for it.

Genie + Not worth it!
Pros:
Good if you’re at a WDW resort guest because you have the advantage to start booking at your reserved park the morning of your reservation at 7amCons:
Doesn’t guarantee ride will be functioning; can only book every 2 hours; Can only use once park you’re reserved for is open if you’re not staying at a WDW resort; can’t buy any Lightning Lane rides by the time you’re allowed to make a purchase. Do not buy! I purchased genie+ And have NOT been able to use. Can’t even link with photos foolproof the genie +. Was told at park I had to call because I couldn’t link with account. Took till day3 to get someone. Hold time was 90 mins. Finally got linked and still wouldn’t work. Called again and gave all my info . I stayed on hold for 124 minutes and no one answered.

My daughter and I recently purchased Genie+ for both MK and HS. We were able to book Slinky Dog at HS and rode Runaway Railway and Rockin Rollercoaster before the park officially opened. We were able to book Star Tours, then 2 hours later got Toy Story Mania by refreshing the app and then booked Alien Swirling Saucers all at 3pm. Although I didn't spend a lot of time on my phone because I understood the system, I can see where people would get frustrated having to work the app. Also wish you could select times instead of taking the first one.

very difficult to work. I hate that I cant plan my trip and days in advance and will have to do everything on a whim. Last trip i will be booking unless it is changed.
