My husband has been 3 times during his childhood. So he wanted our kids to experience Disney like he got to as a child. Ha! What a not so great experience. The genie plus option needs to go! We were to concerned abt deadlines instead of enjoying what ride we wanted when we wanted. We rode 6 rides in 10 hrs.

Pros:

None

Cons:

On your phone instead of enjoying the family time

I’ve been going to Disney since I was 3 years old. I had the best times of my life, I recall all of the old fast pass systems, all of which worked seamlessly. Sure, you may not have gotten to ride every single ride you wanted in a day with the original fast pass system, but you atleast had the ability to make plans ahead of time. With the new Disney genie + service, you don’t know what your day is going to look like. In order to grab the two rides you’d like to ride first , you’d need to wake up at 5am ON VACATION to book the rides. Most of the bigger rides that usually have a long wait don’t even have an option for Disney genie. This whole system overall was a huge business flop on Disney’s in. A lot of people are angry and frustrated with Disney as we expect some improvements in the functionality of the parks post Covid. But we couldn’t have been more wrong. Get ready to pay an arm and a leg for less of an experience.

Pros:

Absolutely nothing

Cons:

Absolutely everything.

I would’ve given a rating of 0 had that been an option. After already paying a premium price to enter the park, you now have the option to pay an additional $15/day per person for Genie+. You will feel compelled to do so in order to “enhance” your Disney experience since you are already well invested having paid for your premium ticket. What was wrong with the free Fast Pass they had before? Nothing except it was “free”. The problem going forward is that most everyone will pay for Genie+ thus making it the norm and reducing its effectiveness. Now, “Standby wait times” are often way off because Disney employees strongly prioritize Genie+ buyers and you will see streams of Genie+ customers cruise by while you continue to stand in the standby line. The simple answer for Disney is to limit the number of Genie+ customer sales each day or limit the number of park reservations for the day. I also find it ironic that a company that prides itself as being so “progressive” is so willing to allow the rich to pay more in order to gain access to Genie+ and Lightning Lane rides if it means greater corporate profits. Good luck to you and your family if you can only afford the base ticket price. I am amazed and disappointed with the corporate greed displayed by Disney. That was my last trip unless they get rid of this poorly conceived concept called Genie+.

Pros:

Ability to mobile order food on free Disney app. Disney should make Genie+ free on same app.

Cons:

How long do you have?

Oh boy. I have seen so many comments that those who hate Genie + just do not know how to use it. Well, I spent 7 days using it, and I was able to use the stacking method and did get a lot of park passes. It was easy to learn how to use if you are already familiar with the Disney apps. But, I still hated it. It is totally a bait and switch to pick one ride time but then actually get another. It is horrible to have to be on your phone all day. It makes the stand-by line so much longer. It sucks being up before 7AM on VACATION. That is not a vacation. I'm on devices all day for work. I do not want to be on them all day on vacation. It basically makes you run all over the park if you want to actually get your worth out of it. We are considering a vacation elsewhere (or at least at Disneyland where Genie + does not seem to need to be utilized as much) until they fix or get rid of this system all together.

None

We have been going to Disney with our kids for 16 years multiple times a year. We were picked to beta test the magic bands before they were unveiled. We have used paper fast passes many times. We have used the app for fast passes and also have waited in line when there were no programs. All of those options were fine. The Genie+ app is horrendous. Hardly any rides were available, it kept unlinking my party and you couldn't book any rides unless you were glued to your phone. It was not fun or magical. They broke a system that worked fine before. Genie+ is an epic failure.

Pros:

Mobile Food ordering

Cons:

No ride available Unfriendly user interface Time slots changes AFTER you book them Can only book one every two hours so all rides are at end of day Does not offer multiple times, just one random time arbitrarily picked that does not match anything in your day Ride wait times not accurate, sometimes by over an hour Disney does not even know how their own app works

We bought Genie Plus for 6 people. I woke up every morning at 6:45 am on my first vacation in 3 years to refresh my phone and pray to the Disney gods that I could get my kids on the ride they wanted. My 12 year old only wanted to ride Rise Of The Resistance - because we stayed off property, all the Lightening Lane spots were taken before I even got a chance to sign up. The standby line on March 25 pretty much stayed at 185 minutes. He said, \"I just can't mom\". We did 6 parks in 7 days - 4 parks were Disney parks all with Genie Plus. Our trip for 6 people (4 adults and 2 kids) cost over $10,000 total.

Disney took all the magic away. It was the worst vacation and the most expensive trip we've ever been on - and that includes Canary Islands, Germany, France, Spain, and Hawaii.

The app continuously broke and unlinked 2 of us all four days we were there. Only Epcot honored the promise of if the app breaks, we will let you get on the rides you wanted.

Save yourself time, money, and stress by going somewhere else. It's too much money to be miserable. AND NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE STUCK ON THEIR PHONE THE ENTIRE VACATION! I'm work in social media...literally ALWAYS on my phone. My time at Disney was THE ONLY my phone needed to be recharged before 2 pm. Every photo of me on vacation is of me with my face buried in my phone. I was not working, I was trying to plan rides, meals, shows, and cursing at the Disney Genie Plus app.

We originally planned this trip for May 2020. My kids were crushed. We wanted to reschedule for 2021 but held off. My kids were so excited to visit Disney and they returned saying, \"Can we just go to the beach next time?\"

Shame on you Disney. I feel horrible for the families who spent years saving up for this one special trip only to experience this.

Pros:

1. Thank god it's over and I'm back home. 2. I never want to go back. 3. Happy we went to Universal because its awesomeness made up for the failure of Disney.

Cons:

1. The app sucks. 2. Be prepared to live on your phone. 3. One person HAS to be up at 6:45 am every day to sign up for the first ride. 4. If you stay off property forget about getting on any of the good rides. Most of the rides are virtual, and after the awe of the first one, you're left with the feeling of, \"That was it? That is why everyone is standing in a line for 185 minutes?\" 5. If you go to Guest Services to try to get your family relinked, even the employees tell you the app sucks.

It is not worth on long weekend as 1st good ride available around 12 noon to 1 Pm , for next ride around 5 to 6 PM if you are lucky. Once you reserve one ride , you cannt book any other ride till you are done. It is no customer support on app also. I tried many time , the message state issue is resolved and no response .

Pros:

For Disney it is another way of making money. People come to disney to make memory but after spending money it is horrible.

Cons:

It has ruined the Disney experience. Not alone does it drag more money from you, its design and implementation creates frustration, anger, and disappointment. You have to lower your expectations.

With fast pass you could plan your park days in advance and digest the fact that you could or couldn't get the rides you wanted. You plan to make the best of it. With Genie+, you wake up early to battle the internet at 7am (if you are on resort, otherwise don't bother) and get disappointed by either the app crashing, not being able to get what you want at a time you want to be in the park, or having to double up with another family member to do the individual lightening lane while you do the Genie+ LL.

The result, at 7am before you even get to the parks, you are disappointed by either the ride you got or didn't, fearful that the LL will be sold out by the time you book your next one, or angry that the times you had to take disrupt the plan you had for the day.

Its terrible. Lower your expectations or avoid the parks.

Pros:

In comparison to fast pass, none.

Cons:

Cost Rides sell out/reach capacity early in the morning before you even get to book a 2nd LL The 7am internet battle to get what you want Dealing with disappointment and anger at 7 am before your day even starts Realizing that even though you paid, you will have to wait in several long lines to ride what you want.
