Genie Plus + Lghtng Lanes - TOO CONFUSING for UK visitors
Pros:
Booked 2 ridesCons:
- confusing to know when to book, the Disney customer service representatives each explained it a different, confusing, and sometimes incorrect way - you cannot access it as a UK visitor on the app, and phoning the WDW phone line doesn't work either, you have to physically visit the park, stand in a line and pay/activate it that way - which means most of the slots for rides have already been booked by the time this activates. -Its a waste of moneyReviewed by kmdelarosa501 Review Date: 06/21/2022

I realize spending extra money on anything is frustrating. But the $15 saved us a lot of time. We utilized genie plus at all four parks during our 6/1-6 trip as a family of 4. Although not as needed at Epcot and AK, we were able to get a lightning lanes on every attraction at AK, HS and Epcot. As we had a morning tour at MK and dinner reservations at Contemporary, we got LL for Space Mtn, Buzz, Big Thunder, PhilHarmagic and Pirates. I think it is critical to educate yourself by watching a video. We mastered the art of the “fiddle fiddle” and I was not on my phone all day.
Pros:

When I purchased the Genie Plus, I did not realize I was only going to be allowed to use it five times for the day. Not worth $15 on top of the already high ticket price. Do not do it! Just go and have fun and not worry about the stress of the lines.
Pros:
We did not have to wait long for five rides.Cons:
It was only good for five rides and you could only get one at a time. It was difficult to end up with five passes for the day. It drained my phone battery, and I did not like having to be on my phone the whole day. It was way too stressful!Reviewed by tripleR79 Review Date: 06/18/2022

If we hadn't watched Molly's videos first, we would've been just as frustrated as everyone else. It does take some knowledge and practice, and getting up extra early to book rides sucks, but we found it super useful and made our MK days so much better than had we not had it. It only helped a little for HS (it was just too busy), and we probably didn't need it for AK or Epcot. I highly recommend having it for MK, but learn how to utilize it best before going to avoid as much frustration.
Pros:
On a very, very busy time (March 2022), we never waited more than 30 min in any line at MK.Cons:
It can be confusing, having to get up so early every morning to book rides, rides can book up within seconds and you may never get a LL for themReviewed by MelMcB Review Date: 06/13/2022

It works good for rides available but it has you going from one side of the park to the other all day or you have to wait for your next ride. I fiddle faddled and still nothing new popped up. We only did it at Hollywood studios to ride the main rides we wanted but still missed many just like any park. After $175 for our party size, never again.
Pros:
Skipping 4 lines that were availableCons:
Walking back and forth instead of just going from one land to the next and still waiting in many lines.Reviewed by WMNJ Review Date: 06/09/2022

We just used Genie+ for the first time. It was a short trip and we wanted to do as much as possible but also not kill ourselves doing crazy lines back to back. Genie+ helped us get more done, and standing on a couple long lines was tolerable since we only needed to do that a few times. It’s only $15. It probably helped us get over 30% more done each day but it only cost about 10% more over our ticket costs (3 day hoppers). We had a couple issues where we had to change plans to make it work. I wish it was less like legacy FP and more like FP+ where we could pick from available time slots that day. I think the major gripes are rooted in how expensive and competitive WDW has steered the park experience, and Genie+ has given them a target to vent. By itself Genie+ isn’t sooo bad. It is bad if you’re already upset at all the other changes. It is bad if you expect it to give you $15 more fun than FP+ did. It’s failing because it’s a craptastic cherry on a melted sour cake.
Pros:
We got more accomplished than without it. The price is pretty reasonable if you’re able to get 4 LLs out of it, even if they aren’t all the top highest demand rides. It worked well with park hopping and using Early Entry.Cons:
It should hold a time slot longer, even if it’s just 5 minutes. It stinks being surprised with a different later time when finalizing your selection. There’s no way to trade for a different selection without canceling what you already have, so you might end up with neither when trying to switch. A modify button would be nice.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 06/05/2022

Ruins the vacation experience to have to be on you phone all day, setting alarms to wake up early or for when you can make your next booking. It doesn’t make the experience more enjoyable and needs to go back to the old system or be changed.
Pros:
NoneCons:
Always looking at phone Doesn’t include most popular rides Can only book one ride at a time Causes you to walk all over the park instead of experiencing a section at a time since you are at the mercy of what bookings are available Takes away from park and family experienceReviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 05/28/2022

I love this system. I enjoy being on my phone and being able to plan everything seamlessly. I can noy wait to be at my next trip and be up at midnight to schedule genie and then get up at 7am to make plans. This way I can be immersed in Disney magic all day and night. People are just too lazy to get involved and want Disney to do everything for them.

Got up at silly a clock to buy genie+ just so the family could go on slinky dog ride.
Even tho we booked at 7 am it was 18.25 until we could book a slot for Slinky. This then blocked one of our slots up for the day.
When we then got to our time slot the ride had broken down so that was very disappointing as it was the main reason we bought the genie+.
The Genie+ system is a joke and not worth $15 as we only got to use it on 2 rides.
