Up until the pandemic, I went to Disney World once a year. My whole life. First as a kid, then as a twenty something, and now as a Mom. Big fan. After this past trip, I have decided that we are going to take a few years off. It was just too hard. Logging in at 7 am, not getting the times we hoped for, having to make decisions for a group on the fly, then spending all day on my phone. No thanks. I liked being able to plan ahead and then just go and enjoy the park, and that is gone. It felt like we had to work too hard for our fun this time.
Pros:
Shorter lines (which is very helpful with little ones, especially)Cons:
7 am stress, being on phone all day, not able to plan schedule aheadReviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 11/17/2022

Genie plus as it is is near unusable and has been made into a chore you pay for. I will not pay for it again unless they make some major changes. I can understand paying for the fast pass system they had in place before but this has not been worth the money. Just go during down times and do standby lanes or don’t go. It’s not only making me reconsider LL but Disney experience as a whole.
I’m very disheartened. If you plan it out well and order it for the day and start planning at 7 you can make it work but not well. It has taken the experience from being something you can plan ahead and not have to deal with changes in the park to solely handling changes in the park. It’s stressful enough to be in. The park and make changes as they were but now you are asking me to make last minute decisions with tons of people trying to accommodate for a whole family and not getting to spend much time with them cause I’m busy working through your stupid system.
Also you would think dynamic pricing would include cheaper rates later in the day but that is by no means the case.
Pros:
Some lightning lanes are faster than standby.Cons:
Not all rides are available. Pricing does not change for later parts of the day. You spend most of your time figuring it out or planning on the park rather than being with family. Fancy rides are additional cost on top of genie plus. I have many more but am too irritated thinking about it to add them.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 11/05/2022

Where has the Disney magic gone?? Genie pass needs to be stopped and fast pass needs to return. What was the reason they stopped this? How much more money do they need to Take from us? An already stressful trip just to add more stress trying to use this app. And not all rides are on there of course. Disney has changed.
Pros:
More cons than prosCons:
Beating the clock. Must wake up by 7 am to TRY and book rides but spots aren’t guaranteed. Only book one ride at once and a limit of how much times you use it.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 09/17/2022

Spent $120 for our group. Didn't really understand how it worked, had to ask a couple of cast members who were very helpful. Didn't know we had to wait two hours to book another ride after booking a ride. One of the rides we used the LL broke down while we were in line and we couldn't book the same ride again after they got it up and running. We literally used it for one ride. And, actually, the lines weren't bad the day we went, they need to go back to the fast track system.
Pros:
You can get on rides faster in the LLCons:
Can only book a certain amount of rides per day and we couldn't book the same ride twice.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 09/14/2022

Doesn't cover all rides???!!
Too hard to enable. (9 clicks! max should be 3).
I don't mind the expense, but there's no reason it can't take 3 clicks to enable for a park / day and then voila... pick a ride and start enjoying.
But hard to get to work, finally to pick a ride and not all rides are there, and even the ones that are you can't get on until 9pm.. and you just paid $100+.
They should basically:
Show you exactly what you WOULD get if you had it (ride, wait time: 90min, next avail G+ time: 12:35pm). So you'd know before buying.
Then, tap it, buy? yes. done.
Then find/tap a ride and add to your day... with all the notifications and things like that built in and ease of using magic band or phone.
Pros:
The money I spent on it would have otherwise gone to help starving children, which would be bad.Cons:
too hard to purchase. not all rides covered. no idea before you buy what benefit it will be and after buying am frequently disappointed.Reviewed by Cinder-stella Review Date: 08/29/2022

Genie+... Even as an avid Disney goer and researcher, I still experienced some issues with the system.
A huge flaw I experienced, that I haven't heard talked about much, is that... say you have a party of 4, if 2 people from your party book a LL for splash, then later the other 2 book a LL for pirates, Genie kept deleting the first pass we would make. I missed out on so many great LL picks because the system kept deleting that first pass I made whenever the other half of my party booked their first pass for the day. It seemed to only do this for the first pick, but it was super frustrating.
Pros:
If you buy it first thing in the morning and book right at 7, you can get a lot of rides done.Cons:
If you buy it too late in the day, you may not have great luck getting good LL picks.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 08/27/2022

If you like to be stuck on a schedule and have ZERO forgiveness if you miss your time this is for you. Honestly surprised Disney has such a bad system in place. No magic with this. Shame they named it after one of their best characters
Pros:
Nice if it worksCons:
Stuck on a tight schedule. Have to set alarms to constantly check your phone to make appointments and not miss your bookings.Reviewed by allec999 Review Date: 08/19/2022

This actually worked better than I expected. However, I purchased Genie+ for all of us in our group for the entire trip in advance, back when you could still do that, so I didn't have to deal with buying Genie+ every day. I only had to get up before 7AM each morning to battle for spots along with everyone else staying on property. It worked okay, though it certainly had its glitches; one morning I was on regular Genie service somehow instead of Genie+, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't book a Lightning Lane until it was essentially too late to get the ride I wanted. That wasn't good. Plus, just before we arrived, they reduced the Individual Lightning Lane (fancy rides) choices to one per park; I figured If I was in, I would be all the way in, and try to get on the best rides at each park, so I wasn't pleased with the change. Overall, it's a pretty big money grab (which I admit I'm willing to pay, but the concept doesn't sit well with me) that has people running around like rats all around the park, with their heads tilted down looking at their phones. How there aren't more collisions, I don't quite understand.
Bottom line, and I'm far from the first fan to make this observation, is that the parks are too crowded. Why? Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. Epcot in 1982. DHS in 1989. AK in 1998. Since then? Many more resort hotels, more big rides, more and more people, but no additional park, and thus no more capacity. And having learned on a tour (Caring for Giants at AK - awesome) that two-thirds of Disney's 40+ square miles remain undeveloped, and I just wonder when they will put their capital to work. At this point, though I still love Disney's atmosphere, Universal is the better value.

We did a lot wrong with Geni+ and a lot right. All the right things came from watching a lot of Molly videos for sure. We really didn't want to get it but it is sadly worth it. A few lessons we didn't follow from Molly and I wish we had. If you are staying on property and rope-dropping early admission, Genie+ is not worth it for Epcot ( did that waste of money). We did not get it for Animal Kingdom and we wish we did. We tried to go without it and we ended up only riding 4 rides and It's tough to be a bug. Two of those rides were during early admission rope drop. We ended up waiting over two hours for Kilimanjaro safari and ended up riding single rider for Everist. We missed two rides we did want to do as they never dropped below a 1 hour wait time. In Hollywood studios, we missed Tower of terror as by the time we got to use our first genie+ at 10 am all reservations were gone and I couldn't get one all day. Genie+ in Magic Kindom is so much easier to use and so worth it.
