Disney has been teasing us with so many new park attraction ideas!
With plans to spend $60 billion on park experiences and expansions, we’re eager to see what is created over the next 10 years. Back in September, Disney shared a new idea with us for the project Animal Kingdom expansion, but nothing was confirmed. While we STILL haven’t gotten any confirmation, we’re starting to think these new ideas are getting closer to becoming reality.
Last year, when the idea to remove DinoLand, U.S.A in Animal Kingdom was brought up, Disney had suggested replacing it with Zootopia and Moana-themed lands. Both of these movies would have made great options, in the park themed for wild animals.
But then, at the Destination D23 this year, we learned that the theming concept ideas had changed. They are now considering Encanto and Indiana Jones themes for the re-imagined area. While Disney has still not confirmed that either of these movies will in fact be getting new homes in Animal Kingdom, an interview with Lin Manuel-Miranda on the 20/20 documentary Disney100: A Century of Dreams, gives us a little hope that we could be seeingm at least Encanto, come to life.
Lin Manuel-Miranda, a singer/songwriter who frequently works with Disney, shared his thoughts on bringing Encanto, and specifically Casita, to life, “I want to go inside Casita, don’t you? I don’t even know what that would look like, but some genius Imagineer does.”
Us, too, Lin…us, too.
Could this mean that the Encanto-themed land is a step closer to being official? It would be amazing to hear that Imagineers are currently working on the concept of bringing the magical house to life! The whole land looks so vibrant, colorful, and full of life in the concept art. It’s certainly something we want to stroll through and visit the whole Madrigal family.
As of now, the idea is still a “Blue Sky” idea, meaning they’re still toying with the idea and it may or may not become official. But after hearing about the idea in the documentary, gives us hope that it may some day become reality.
