Could This Mean Disney’s ‘Encanto’ Universe Will Be Expanded?

‘Encanto’ is a story that resonated with adults and children alike.  Once the movie was over, it felt like it wasn’t enough. Don’t get us wrong, the movie was GREAT, but we wanted more — and we might be getting it!

In a Deadline interview with the producer of ‘Encanto,’ Yvett Merino, we learned that we may be getting our wish of the ‘Encanto’ universe expanding.

In the interview, Merino says “We continue to look at different ways to keep the world alive”.  What could this mean for the vibrant world we all love?

Well, she didn’t really specify, but she did mention a lot of possibilities!

“I know they teased a little bit of destination D23 about something Encanto coming, possibly to one of the parks. And we love that…” said Merino, meaning that the teased ‘Encanto’ land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom could possibly be in the works, taking over DinoLand, USA!

She continued to speak about the possible future of ‘Encanto,’ saying, “We’re working closely with our friends in publishing and consumer products to make sure—there’s always different ideas and needs and wants for, for it to stay alive out there”.  The possibilities are endless when it comes to what this beloved movie can expand to, and it looks like both the producers of the film and Disney think that too!

While Merino said that she did not have anything official to say, she did mention that she is excited to see it expand across the Walt Disney Company — and we are too.
