That Moment When…I KNEW I Was a Disney Adult

Well, it’s official…we are Disney adults.

We cry when we see this

You know what? That’s okay. We do all those things that Disney adults, too — we cry when we see Cinderella Castle, we hug Mickey every chance we get, and we have rooms full of Disney merchandise. There’s no shame in our game! When we asked YOU, our AllEars readers when you knew you’d become a Disney adult, you didn’t hesitate to answer!

Speaking of buying ALL the Disney merchandise, we liked this answer because it is, well, relatable. We also like the idea of referring it to a “Disney subscription.”

@crys_the_lemon had a great answer: “when i got a Disney credit card, bought a lot of Disney stuff, then told myself that my monthly payment was a Disney subscription so I wouldn’t feel bad about it”

We get buying ALL the stuff

@BobCaton had an answer that had us nodding in agreement. Once you know your way from the airport without needing directions, you know you’re a Disney adult: “Not needing a GPS or I-4 anymore to get from Sanford Airport to our resorts.”

If you know your way around Disney World without GPS or maps, you might be a Disney adult

@mattwolf67th answered something we also completely relate to: “Tearing up the very first time we saw Walt/Mickey statue. Looked at my kids, they were smiling, water works started.” Oh, yeah, SO many tears.

This could make you cry

For @greg_chang_61, it was seeing another iconic Disney World sight: “First time seeing Spaceship Earth.”

Bounceback offers always get Disney adults

What do you do if you really want to go to Disney World, but no one can or wants to go with you? If you’re a Disney adult, you go anyway. @Magic_and_Spark said, “When my then 17 year old didn’t want to miss any of her senior year & wouldn’t make the trip with me so I did my very first solo trip.”

We’ve done our share of solo trips!

@a2grafix said something very similar: “Taking annual solo trips 2007-13 and not worrying when or where or what time it was.”

Interested in going to Disney World solo? Here’s why you should DEFINITELY do it.

Don’t be afraid to go to Disney solo!

Some of our readers start investing in Disney, particularly things like Disney Vacation Club memberships. @thompsonsyl70 wrote, “Probably forking over the $$ for DVC. Huge investment and a good chunk of change. We’ve been AP for both coasts for over 20 years, cruised, travel back to WDW every 6 mo from Cali, and do D23 but doing DVC felt “big”.”

Appropriately enough, @FigmentFinder said, “Standing in line for 6-7 hours to buy the original Figment popcorn bucket.” Oh, yeah, we remember those days and we may be guilty of it, too. That was a whole THING.

If you missed out on the Figment Popcorn Bucket saga, here’s just a small taste of the chaos this little purple dragon caused in 2022.

For some, it’s making that annual trip to your favorite place in the world. Again, we get that. @Pifase_does_MC said, “Pretty much going to Disney World every single year. That’s pretty much it.”

@tezzles said the same: “When I started going yearly.”

Some of you visit Disney every year

When you know you’ll be returning is a good sign that you’ve crossed into Disney adulthood, too. @rogerstj9491 said, “The first time we did a bounce back offer because we knew when we would be coming back even before we left.” Oh, yeah, they always get us with those bounceback offers.

Those bounceback offers are enticing

You know what, though? Being a Disney adult is TOTALLY okay. We’ve never forgotten the magic that Disney World brings to us and being able to tap into our inner child is certainly the BEST way to live our lives, right?

We’ll keep covering ALL things Disney, so check back with AllEars again soon!
