How to Get the Cheapest Flight (Guaranteed!) to Disney World

Picture it: you’re booking a flight to Disney World and are trying to get the BEST price. But how do you know if the airfare you’re looking at is the best deal or if things will get cheaper later?

Flying to Disney World?

We’ve taken a look at all kinds of flight deals and ways to save, and you likely know about the many airfare tracker apps that exist. But now Google Flights has introduced something NEW that you’ll want to consider.

According to a Google post, they’ve been working on ways to improve the trip-planning experience on Google and one of those improvements has come in the form of price guarantee on select Google Flights.

You can already see whether current flight costs are low, typical, or high when searching on Google Flights. But now you may want to take advantage of price guarantee too.

This is a pilot program in the U.S. While searching for your flights, check to see if the “Price Guarantee” badge shows up.

Google explains, “If you see a flight with the price guarantee badge, it means we’re confident that the price you see today won’t get any lower before takeoff.”

The description on the website explains that Google will watch the flight after you book and if it drops, you’ll get the difference back.

Here’s what the Price Guarantee badge looks like on a flight. You can see it on the Spirit Airlines flight below.

Price Guarantee is only available on select Book on Google itineraries within Google Flights, so don’t expect to see it everywhere.

What else do you need to know about this service? Let’s break it down. First, in terms of how much money you’d potentially be able to get, Google says “Price guarantee pays you the difference between the flight price when you book and the lowest ticket price. To get money back, the price difference must be greater than 5 USD. You can receive up to 500 USD back total per calendar year for up to 3 open Price guaranteed bookings at any one time. This happens after the first flight in the booked itinerary has taken off.”

Time to Fly

To see the Guaranteed Price badge, make sure your country/region is set to US and your currency is in USD. Note that price guarantee only works for “one-way and round-trip flights that depart from the United States.”

You’ll also need to use a US billing address and US phone number once you get to the Book on Google page, and you’ll need to be signed into your Google Account to get this all to work.

And remember that price guarantee only affects you if the price of your flight drops AFTER you book it and the price drops BEFORE the first flight in your itinerary departs.

To make sure you get the Price Guarantee, select a badged flight and click the “Book on Google” link (a.k.a. you can’t book it on the airline’s website separately and still take advantage of this guarantee — you MUST book through Google). Make sure you check the box next to “price guarantee” when booking to accept the Terms of Service.

How do you get that payment back from Google if your flight price does increase after you book it? You’ll actually get it back in Google Pay, but you’ll want to follow some steps:

  1. Download the Google Pay app
  2. “Set it up within 90 days of the departure of the first flight in your itinerary to claim the difference back.”
  3. Any difference will be “deposited into your money in Google Pay.”
  4. “You must sign in with the same Google Account used when booking your flight on Book on Google.”

If you change your trip or cancel part of it, you won’t get the difference back so that’s another important thing to keep in mind.

According to The Washington Post, though Google has called this a “pilot program” one spokesperson, Craig Ewer, has said there’s no specific end date for it. He shared “We want to carefully assess this initial launch and take it from there.”

Orlando Airport

It is interesting that the Book on Google feature is essential to this program though. Back in September of 2022, Google announced that it would be phasing out the Book on Google feature for those in the US sometime after March 31st, 2023.

The Washington Post explains that Google is “exploring options for extending the price guarantee program beyond the pilot to cover as many flights it can.” According to Ewer, “That means doing so without the Book on Google requirement.”

So if you’re looking to book a trip and don’t mind using the Book on Google feature and accepting these terms and conditions, this program could give you some peace of mind when it comes to scoring the best deal. If you do try it, let us know your thoughts and experience in the comments below.
