The premiere of Hocus Pocus 2 is almost here!!
The Sanderson Sisters will reunite in the highly anticipated Hocus Pocus sequel, scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on September 30th. We’ve waited almost thirty years for this sequel, but could there be more in the works??
The cast of Hocus Pocus 2 sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the long-awaited sequel, and we learned that it was Bette Midler (Winifred) who has spent the last twenty years advocating for a sequel. Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah) said, “The minute I heard [Hocus Pocus 2] was real, I said yes right away.”
The cast discussed how shocking it was to find the 1993 film eventually gain popularity, as it originally premiered to negative reviews and a sale of only $39 million in tickets. Kathy Najimy (Mary) said, “It was a surprise to us all.”
For Hocus Pocus 2, the cast said that figuring out the story was their most important goal, with the hope that they could keep the same balance of “whimsy, ridiculousness, evilness, and wickedness” from the original film, according to Parker.
When asked about possible future sequels, Najimy said, “I feel like we’re done. We’ve pulled every story you could pull out of this. I guess, never say never, but I feel grateful that we got to do it again.” Midler, however, said, “I’d love to have a franchise — especially a character I love playing. If there was a third one, of course I’d sign on, but I don’t know how.”

After Hocus Pocus 2, if there is others sequels, I hope there were also the return of Omri Katz: Max Dennison, Thora Birch: Dani Dennison, Vinessa Shaw: Allison, Larry Bagby: Ernie/Ice, Tobias Jelinek: Jay; and the music from the movie released in 1993 : “Main Titles” and “I put a spell on you”.
