As the global health crisis continues, many states are currently under stay-at-home orders in an effort to help flatten the curve.

Yesterday, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom shared his thoughts on when he could see mass gatherings being allowed within his state again. Earlier this week, Florida’s Surgeon General Scott Rivkees spoke to how early he could see Florida relaxing regulations on current precautions, such as avoiding crowds of more than ten people, as well as wearing face masks in public.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Rivkees “told reporters that Floridians needed to get used to current precautions, such as avoiding crowds of 10 or more and wearing face masks in public.” He continued by saying that, “Until we get a vaccine, which is a while off, this is going to be our new normal and we need to adapt and protect ourselves.”

When Rivkees was asked to elaborate how long this could be, he continued that it would be “probably a year, if not longer.”
