Rise of the Resistance at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been keeping the tapstiles… tapping since the ride opened on December 5. So much so that Disney has been using a virtual queue and boarding groups to manage the wait times for guests.

But while the virtual queues have their virtues, the system seemed to need some tweaking. Disney shared via Disney Parks Blog that “We’ve been learning so much and are focused on continuing to make the process of getting into the park and onto the attraction even better.”

To that end, Disney Parks Blog published their updated policy for the Rise virtual queue to make it clearer for guests. The virtual queue, which is accessed through the My Disney Experience app, will now be available “at the published park opening time.” (Previously boarding groups were sometimes divvied up before park opening time, leaving many guests galactically disappointed.)

Disney is also saying that they “may welcome guests onto Hollywood Boulevard prior to opening the rest of the park” and will have some gift shops and eateries (like Trolley Car Cafe) open for convenience.

Then, “at the park’s published opening time, the virtual queue… opens” along with the rest of the park. Disney also highlights that guests must be in the park to access the virtual queue via My Disney Experience.
One final note: Hollywood Studios is using backup boarding groups for Rise of the Resistance. That means if you miss out on getting into a boarding group for the day and the park ends up having space for more riders toward the end of the day, backup boarding group guests can be notified via My Disney Experience push notifications.

Does anyone know if the DAS system works with this ride? For example in cars land ride, if they sell out of fast passes for the day, they allow people with the das card to still get a return tune no matter what.
Does resort guests get an advantage to get a boarding pass early on extra magic days?
Not yet thank goodness! The article says the virtual queue opens up at the official park opening time
I wish they would have done it that way two weeks ago when we were there. People were showing up to the park at 5 a.m. and all the boarding passes were gone by 7:30 AM. There’s no way of family with little kids is going to the park at 5 in the morning just to go on a ride so we were all screwed from the start.
