Construction Updates: Star Tours Refurbishment and Construction in Epcot

Two parks experiencing a lot of change right now are Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Epcot will be seeing new rides and a nighttime show, and Hollywood Studios will welcome Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge next fall. Before all the new attractions come there has been some refurbishment we’ve been monitoring for you.

Tatooine Traders, the Star Wars store at the exit of Star Tours in Hollywood Studios, recently completed an interior refurbishment. This week we were surprised to see some exterior work on the building.

It looks like they are adding something to the building. No formal announcements have been made about this location. We will keep you updated on any announcements.

The popular stage show A Galaxy Far, Far Away has been far, far away since late September. We were glad to see the stage return to its rightful spot in front of the Chinese Theater this week.

Over in Epcot, we were able to see panels being added to the Guardians of the Galaxy ride building. This ride will open in Epcot in 2021.

  1. I’m most excited for Guardians of the Galaxy but if I’m honest, I wish they would stop using other peoples IP. There is so much more Disney IP that SHOULD be in the place of all of this Marvel and Star Wars junk. It’s starting to not feel very Disney-like. I won’t be going back until all of this construction is done. Gone are the days of going a couple time a year. Someone else is going to have to pay for all of this stuff lol.

    1. It’s all about the $$$$$. Disney gets paid the big bucks to adopt these companies and give them park space and a forum to sell their merchandise. Disney sold out long ago.

  2. I’m most excited for Galaxy’s Edge because I’m hoping it means there might start being Fast Passes available for Flight of Passage. I’m not really excited for the new area myself because I fear it will be massively overcrowded like the Harry Potter areas of Universal Studios are. I’ll probably hold out until there’s a Passholder Preview or or Playtime to visit.

  3. In the second picture it looks like there’s a metal shelI structure, that I’m assuming will later become some sort of building.
Does disney use that style of building for all of their buildings or do they normally use wood frame construction?
