What EVERY Disney World Annual Passholder Needs To Know Before Renewing Their Pass

If you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder, there’s a lot you might want to consider before you renew your pass.

Now, being a Disney World Annual Passholder does come with its perks, but the biggest perk is you get to go to Disney World pretty much as often as you’d like. However, before you renew your pass for another year, there are some things you might want to think about.

Less expensive to renew than buy

First, be sure you know when your pass expires. If you wait until your Annual Pass expires, you’re going to have to pay a little more than what you would pay if you renew it.

You’ll want to make sure you make a note in your calendar on when you can renew your pass so you don’t end up paying more for it.

Parts of Disney World will be closed soon

There are some BIG changes coming to Disney World and even more of the parks will be under construction soon. That means entire lands will be closed.  For example, all of Muppets Courtyard is closing to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land, while Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will close to get its Muppets update.

There is also a lot of construction happening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom as Dinoland, U.S.A. gets converted into Pueblo Esperanza. Some Magic Kingdom rides might also be affected when Disney closes Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island for the Cars expansion to Frontierland. So your Annual Pass won’t get you into as MUCH of Disney World as it has in the past.

Will you go to Disney World enough to get your $$ back?

You also need to figure out just how many times you need to go to Disney World to get your money back from your Annual Pass. For example, if you spend $1500 on an Annual Pass, will you go to the parks enough to make up for that?

If you don’t expect to visit the parks much in the coming year, it might not make sense to renew your Annual Pass.

If you’re out of state, you can’t do a payment plan

Out of state Annual Passholders only have one option: the Incredi Pass. This Pass, though, does not allow you to use a payment plan to pay it off. If you’re out of state and don’t want to pay the full cost of the pass up front, you might want to reconsider renewing it.

Florida residents get the option of Pass tiers that allows them to pay them off over time. Out of state residents don’t.

Decide if you’d rather go to Universal instead

With Universal Orlando’s new theme park, Epic Universe, opening, you might be considering a Universal Orlando trip over a Disney World trip. You’d probably spend less and you’d get a chance to check out Epic Universe as much as you would like.

If Universal Orlando might be your priority when your Disney World Annual Pass is up, you might just want to let that Disney World pass expire and spend that money at Universal.

Granted, you get a lot of additional perks with a Disney World Annual Pass, including discounts on food and merchandise, free gifts, exclusive food and merchandise, and more. But you have a lot to think about when it comes to renewing your Disney World Annual Pass for another year. Ultimately, it’s up to you and your priorities and how much value you think the Pass offers you.
