Getting to step into Epic Universe for the first time was an incredible experience, nothing will take away from that, but as someone who struggles with motion sickness, I knew I’d have to be cautious in some areas.

As it turns out, I was right! But this park isn’t as sickness-inducing as you may be thinking. However, if you’re planning to head to the park and you know it’s something you need to watch out for, these are the attractions I really advise you to be careful of around the park.
First up, you’ll want to be cautious of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry located in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic. This ride vehicle is similar to the Tower of Terror, with everyone sitting in seats in an elevator-like vehicle, but the ride motion will jostle you in almost all directions.

However, the real motion-sick inducing part here is the use of screens. This is often a struggle for me, but thankfully, the screens are so seamlessly part of the ride that sometimes it was hard for me to tell what was real and what was on a screen, so my brain was tricked, too! I’d compare it closest to the Spider-Man ride in Islands of Adventure, which doesn’t give me trouble, either. If you’re severely sensitive to motion sickness, I’d say watch out, but otherwise, it’s done very well, and I don’t think it’ll give people like me, who deal with moderate motion sickness, too much trouble.

Stardust Racers is located in Celestial Park, the main hub of Epic Universe, and if you often struggle with getting motion sick on roller coasters, this one will be no different. There are two different tracks on this ride, and while neither of them has loops, both do have inversions that can get to some people.

This is especially true if you often deal with vertigo. As this is a dueling coaster, you’ll go FAST and reach speeds of up to 62 miles per hour and 133 feet high, which certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. Again, it didn’t bother me, thankfully, but if you know roller coasters get to you, proceed with caution.

Curse of the Werewolf in Dark Universe is another one to be cautious of at Epic Universe. This coaster spins you in all directions, although it’s not randomized — it’s based on where the weight in your car is located, so it does feel like a slightly more natural movement.

I do think this one would have gotten to me if the ride had been longer. While it may be a bummer for many that the ride is relatively short, it was a blessing in disguise for me since it kept the motion sickness at bay, and I do think it’ll do the same for most others. Again, though, if you’re extra sensitive to spinning, you’ll want to watch out.

Finally, we have Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, also located in Dark Universe. This was the only ride that really got to me in terms of motion sickness, and it was due to a few different aspects.

For one, this ride vehicle and movement is most similar to Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey in Islands of Adventure (which does also make me motion sick, but it’s much worse over there), and it’s a LONG attraction. Those two elements combined weren’t a great mix for me, and I think it’ll be similar for those who deal with motion sickness. That said, I loved this attraction and thought the mild nausea was totally worth it, so if you’re willing to brave it or want to take medication ahead of time, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a LOT of movement.
