REVIEW: We LOVE Disney World Ice Cream, But Don’t Go Out of Your Way for This

There is something about enjoying ice cream on your Disney World vacation that just feels right. Whether eating a Mickey Bar in the parks or heading to a hotel to enjoy some treats, we love snacking on ice cream during our trip.

There are many places to get ice cream, but today, we are heading over to the Beaches & Cream To-Go Window at Disney’s Beach Club Resort to give you a full review. Is it worth the trek for some ice cream creations, or are you better off heading somewhere else? Let’s find out!

Background

The Beaches & Cream To-Go Window is located right next to the entrance of Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. Currently, the window is open from 11 AM until 11 PM, but hours are subject to change. While you can’t grab the full menu from Beaches & Cream at the To-Go Window, it has a good selection of ice cream creations.

The window offers hard floats and shakes, such as a Tropical Sunrise Float and a Grasshopper Float. The S’mores Shake and Classic Root Beer Float can also be made non-alcoholic. In addition to those, you can get ice cream in a cone, shake, or sandwich. It also offers assorted beer, hard beverages, wine, and soda.

Atmosphere

Beaches & Cream To-Go Window overlooks the Stormalong Bay pool that is shared between Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Normally, this provides a lovely view of the pool; however, the pool is currently under construction until June 2025, so it doesn’t have the best view right now.

There are a number of tables situated near the to-go window, but they are also shared with Beaches & Cream, so you might find families sitting at a table waiting for their name to be called for the restaurant. There are also a handful of tables around the corner that provide more seating options. You can also head into the hotel lobby if you would rather enjoy your treat inside. While we could hear the construction noise while we were there, it wasn’t anything obnoxious, and we still enjoyed sitting outside.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

First up, we grabbed the Tropical Sunrise Float for $14.50. This treat is made with Ace Pineapple Hard Cider with Rainbow Sherbet. We hoped this drink would look pretty, but once the sherbet started to melt, it turned a greenish brown color that wasn’t the most appetizing.

We thought this was an interesting combination of flavors, but somehow, it kind of works. It isn’t a combination we would write home about, as the hoppy flavor of the cider overpowers the rainbow sherbet flavor. However, if you are a fan of hard cider, you might want to give this treat a try. It is definitely strong on the hard cider flavor, and the rainbow sherbet adds sweetness to the overall flavor. You won’t like this treat if you don’t like hard cider.

We also grabbed the S’mores Shake but opted to make it non-alcoholic. When you order it with alcohol, it costs $16, but without alcohol, it is $9.75. Without alcohol, the S’mores Shake features chocolate and vanilla ice cream topped with marshmallows, chocolate sauce, and graham crackers.

The non-alcoholic version definitely isn’t as tasty as the alcoholic version. When you remove the alcohol, you are just left with a vanilla and chocolate shake. It was tasty, but if you are expecting s’mores flavor, you will be very disappointed. The shake was thick and creamy, and there was definitely plenty to share.

Finally, we grabbed an Ice Cream Sandwich for $8.75. The ice cream sandwich is made with your choice of ice cream flavor between two chocolate chip cookies. We chose the butter pecan ice cream, but you can also get vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, cookies ‘n’ cream, rainbow sherbet, or coffee.

We were excited about this treat, but unfortunately, we were disappointed. The cookies were way too hard, making eating and enjoying it difficult. We weren’t even able to bite through the sandwich with our mouths. We had to snap a piece of cookie off and dip it in ice cream to eat both together.

On the other hand, the butter pecan ice cream was full of buttery goodness with pieces of pecan mixed in. We thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream, but it wasn’t enough to save the sandwich, in our opinion. We suggest opting for ice cream in a cone instead.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

• You are looking for a relaxing spot to grab an ice cream treat. This spot will be even more relaxing if you visit after June 2025, when the pool has reopened, but even with the construction, we thought the atmosphere was relaxing.
• You are looking for some fun hard shakes or floats. The Beaches & Cream To-Go Window has a good variety of alcoholic ice cream creations. You can choose from five different options, so this could be a good choice if you want a yummy alcohol and ice cream treat.
• You are at the pool or in the area and are seeking something sweet. If you are in the area, this location is super easy to get to, and you don’t need a reservation! You can just walk up and place your order. Perfect for when you are craving some sweetness.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

• You want an ice cream treat but aren’t in the area, or it would be hard to get here. There was nothing absolutely awful about this location, but we also don’t think it is worth going out of your way to visit. So many places in Disney World offer ice cream, and we don’t think you should make a big trek for the Beaches & Cream To-Go Window.
• You want unique ice cream creations. The hard shakes and floats are fun, but you won’t find anything super unique here. It mostly offers your classic ice cream creations.
• Your one desire is a delicious ice cream sandwich. We were disappointed in the ice cream sandwich here. The cookies were really hard, making it really hard to eat and not super enjoyable. We would suggest heading elsewhere for an ice cream sandwich.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Beaches & Cream To-Go Window. We were disappointed by the Ice Cream Sandwich and wouldn’t recommend that, but the ice cream was tasty. This location isn’t worth going out of your way for, but if you are in the area searching for a treat, the Beaches & Cream To-Go Window could be a great choice.
