There are a lot of dining options across Walt Disney World, ranging from full-service sit-down restaurants to quick-service offerings and snack carts. With that many options, it’s no surprise that reviews for some establishments can depend on the taste and preferences of the reviewer.

Recently, we received a review of one of EPCOT’s most popular restaurants that was decidedly mixed.
Located on the shores of the World Showcase Lagoon just outside the entrance to the enclosed Mexico Pavilion, La Hacienda de San Angel is the first restaurant most guests see when entering World Showcase, and is often crowded as a result.
According to Disney, the restaurant offers guests the opportunity to try “vibrant flavors from regions around Mexico, as (they) dine under colorful globe lamps and star lanterns.” Menu items include corn tortillas that are house-made each day and fresh salsas.

The most recent review we’ve received of La Hacienda de San Angel came in on March 25th. The anonymous reviewer gave the restaurant an overall score of 7/10 and a recommendation, saying it was “good for one visit.” They also listed the food and atmosphere as pros of the restaurant. However, not all about the review was not positive. As cons, the reviewer said that “Prices were high. Margaritas were small”, which likely cost the restaurant some overall points.

A previous review from earlier in the month was even more positive, with that anonymous review writing that the restaurant featured, “Good food. Got a reservation in 30 minutes. On the water. Second time eating there.” They listed the pros as “Easy to get into. Good Food.” with no corresponding cons in an 8/10 review.
While neither of these reviews was OVERWHELMING in their positivity, both were improvements on opinions expressed by our readers in years past. Back in 2022, reader DisneyMeg wrote “Staff was rude and unwelcoming from the hostess to the server. The staff made us feel as if we were an annoyance. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. The server rolled his eyes when questioned about the menu. The calamari tasted like it was cooked in old oil and they were served overcooked. It was so bad we couldn’t even eat it. The server never came to check on us for drinks or if we needed anything. A member of our party, who is not a big eater, had asked for a quesadilla which is only offered on the children’s menu which adults are not allowed to order from. They accommodated by doubling the price of the quesadilla and charging an extra $20 for adding overcooked grilled chicken to this item. It was a terrible experience and my family will not be returning. The ONLY nice thing about this restaurant is that it has fireworks views. The food and service was well below what is expected for WDW with much higher prices. I was looking forward to eating here for months, and was highly disappointed!”
Clearly, either DisneyMeg was having a REALLY bad day, or things have improved drastically over the last 3 years at La Hacienda de San Angel!

How do you feel about La Hacienda de San Angel? Let us know!
FYI, I am local resident at Kissimmee, FL. All the food contains small portions at the Disney parks… The prices are always over priced. Make sure you eat before go to to any of the Disney theme parks.
Hacienda has an incredible view of the lagoon, and the restaurant itself is very nice. The issue we have is the strange menu. It’s nothing traditional for a Mexican restaurant. We won’t be returning. What I suggest is ordering from the walk-up counter before Hacienda opens, then eat inside Hacienda. They let everyone eat in there because the outside seating is always full.
