Disney World is going through some serious changes and we’re pretty darn excited about them!

The Animal Kingdom retheme of DinoLand, U.S.A. into the new Tropical Americas land is already in progress, and the Villains Land and Cars area rethemes at Magic Kingdom are in progress, too. While those changes might be a ways away, we spotted some new permits that might mean more work is on the way.
We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction permits Disney has filed to get an idea of what projects might be on the horizon around the parks and more! We search for Notices of Commencement to find out what sort of work might be going on. Let’s take a look at what we found this time around!
After a five-year hiatus, “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” has been transformed into a new live show — “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” that will debut on May 27th, 2025 at the Animation Courtyard Theater! Disney recently filed a new permit for this theater, which appears to be for General Construction. It doesn’t get more specific than that, but we can’t wait to see this new show when it opens.

While we don’t have an opening date for the Tropical Americas and aren’t expecting anything for a few years or so, construction is well underway. Disney previously hinted at a 2027 opening timeline, and this new DinoLand U.S.A. permit is a good sign that things are moving along.
The work is to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction,” which isn’t very specific, but it does mean that we’re getting closer to this transformation.

Over at the Land Pavilion in EPCOT, we spotted a new permit for some electrical work that is scheduled to be done soon. The Land Pavilion is pretty large and the permit doesn’t get any more specific, but we’ll be on the lookout for any potential updates that could impact your upcoming trip.

The paving over of Rivers of America is a true loss to everyone. How much hotter will that whole area be? Remember that when it’s August and you’d love a cool breeze at Disney.
Cars belongs in Hollywood Studios. Get rid of Indiana Jones as it is being added to Animal Kingdom. That leaves the perfect location for Cars. Hoping Disney sees their errors before it’s too late.
