Character dining can be a great way to meet a ton of characters at once, without waiting in long lines.

Disney World has a lot of options for character dining, but which ones are actually worth it? At every Disney restaurant, there are pros and cons and you have to consider what is best for your party. But for some Disney adults, this restaurant might be a “one and done”.
In EPCOT at the Norway pavilion, you can dine with royalty at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. The restaurant is designed to resemble the actual Akershus Palace and you could see an assortment of Disney Princesses here. But character dining isn’t for everyone.

We recently got a review from one of our readers for Akershus and we wanted to share because it brings up some points that could help fellow Disney adults. Our reader shared that they went here with their two nieces and went to meet the princesses, but they left disappointed and this review might help you avoid a mistake!

The reader wrote “Five or so princesses call this restaurant home. What a dream! Ariel, Snow, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Belle all stopped over to say hello. Was it too many princesses? They have a lot of tables to get to and they can’t get backed up, so the visits were all a quick hello, a signature, a picture, and a See ya! And you only get to meet them once.”

With character dining experiences, it is hard to get extended periods with the characters due to the volume they have to get through. So if you or someone in your traveling party wants more special and longer amounts of time with a character, your typical meet and greet is your best bet. Since they only allow a few families in a character meeting room at one time, the character can spend more time with you to talk and take a lot of photos.

However, if you are just wanting to snap a few photos and briefly meet them, character dining is perfect for that. If you don’t want to wait in different lines to meet each princess, then the dining option is better for you.

The reader also wrote about the food… “I am an adventurous eater and was really looking forward to trying Norwegian food! I do not for a second think that is what this is. I think it is Disney’s version of Norwegian food.”

Some fans might find this food more “adventurous” than others, but of course, that depends on your likes and dislikes! We suggest taking a look at the menu ahead of time to see if you find it to be something you’ll like. It is pricey, so you would want to make sure you are going to enjoy the food!

The princesses are at all three meals and we enjoyed this breakfast so if you want to do this restaurant, but if you want a more traditional breakfast, you can pay $59 per adult and $38 per child. If the dinner menu sounds good to you, you’re looking at $69 per adult and $46 per child.

If you want to try something similar, you can head to Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom for breakfast, lunch, or dinner to meet some princesses as well. Note that these reservations can be hard to get, so we recommend booking 60 days out.

If you want great food, a beautiful atmosphere, and a character meal, we love Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Here you can meet Snow White, the Evil Queen, Dopey, and Grumpy. This reservation is also difficult to grab so be sure to set those reminders in your calendar for 60 days in advance.
