It’s an EPIC day for Universal fans, as the Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park has been added in full to the Universal Orlando app. However, we noticed some…interesting things about the new park map.

Universal’s highly-anticipated new theme park, Epic Universe, is scheduled to open to the general public on May 22nd. However, with previews for Team Members rumored to start as early as March, Universal is gearing up to have the park in operational shape. This includes updating the official Universal Orlando mobile app with maps and information about the park’s attractions. As we explored this newly added information, we made some observations.
Within the Epic Universe digital map, we were able to go attraction-by-attraction through the park. One of the first things we noticed is that — perhaps unsurprisingly — many of the park’s rides are equipped to handle a Single Rider Queue.

Now, just because these rides are equipped to have a single rider queue doesn’t mean they will have one on opening day, or at all, just that the possibility is there. As Universal states on the app, “The single rider option is subject to availability and may open or close at any time.”

The following Epic Universe attractions have the potential single-rider option listed in their descriptions:
- Curse of the Werewolf
- Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry
- Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
- Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
- Mine-Cart Madness
- Monsters Unchained
- Stardust Racers
In addition, all of the above attractions, as well as the Constellation Carousel, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, and Yoshi’s Adventure, will offer Child Swap for groups with children who can’t or do not wish to ride the attraction.

We also noticed another interesting notation that seemed to disappear from the app. Initially, there was a small Virtual Line logo that appeared with each of the park’s lands (Portals in Epic Universe parlance), seemingly indicating that a virtual queue system could be in place to access them, at least at busy times.

However, that icon seemed to disappear from the app.

It’s currently unclear if that was a purposeful removal on Universal’s part or a glitch in the app. The latter is not out of the realm of possibility, as we noticed that the app was having some technical issues.

With the highly-anticipated opening of Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park less than 3 months away — and previews rumored to start much sooner than that — the park’s maps and information have been added to the Universal Orlando app. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Epic’s opening!
