If You’re Not Following These Unspoken Rules, You’re Doing EPCOT Wrong

EPCOT is not just another Disney park – it’s an experience, a vibe, a way of life.

EPCOT

If you’ve been before, you know that there are certain unwritten rules that every seasoned guest just knows. These aren’t printed on a park map, but ignoring them is basically EPCOT blasphemy. To that point, we thought we’d reach out to you and get your takes on which unspoken EPCOT rules you’re always following.

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “What unspoken rule do you ALWAYS follow in EPCOT?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!

Show Some Respect

To start things off, we’ve got Debbie who kept it simple but important: “Always show respect to the cast members and other guests.”

Cast Member

This should go without saying, but sadly, it doesn’t. Cast Members are the backbone of the Disney experience, and EPCOT has some of the best. Whether they’re working in a pavilion in World Showcase, running a ride, or answering a million questions about where the bathrooms are, a little kindness goes a long way.

Acknowledge the Celebration Buttons

Next, we’ve got Rachel who shared, “Acknowledge all the celebration buttons I see. I know it means so much to me when someone wishes me a happy birthday or congratulations! This is for all parks.”

They’re a collectible!

If you’ve ever worn a Disney celebration button, you know how magical it feels when someone acknowledges it. Whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary, or even an “I’m Celebrating” button with something vague like “Life,” a quick “Happy Birthday!” or “Congratulations!” makes a stranger’s day. And honestly, what’s better than a free way to spread some magic?

Always Start in Mexico or Canada?

Next, Patrick shared, “Do Mexico first when entering World Showcase.” This is THE great EPCOT debate: Mexico or Canada first? Mexico stans argue that the atmosphere, margaritas, and the Gran Fiesta Tour make for a strong opening.

Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT

But then there’s Danny, who said, “Start with Future World and do World Showcase in the afternoon! Many people say start with Mexico, but I actually like starting with Canada going the other way. Because Canada, UK, and France are the best during the daytime / afternoon, and the UK has great musical performances in the afternoon. Italy and Germany are really good during the evening around sunset. Mexico is mostly indoors so you can do it at anytime. I really like Norway in the evening!”

Canada Pavilion

Honestly, both arguments are solid. It all depends on your personal preference. But whatever you do, commit to your choice. No one likes an indecisive World Showcase wanderer.

Skip Spaceship Earth First Thing

Next, we’ve got Shawn who shared, “Skip Spaceship Earth when you first walk in.”

Spaceship Earth line

Look, we all love Spaceship Earth. The smell of Rome burning? Iconic. The animatronics? Chefs kiss. Dame Judi Dench telling us to thank the Phoenicians? Legendary. But first thing in the morning, it’s a time trap. The ride is slow-moving, and while everyone is distracted by its giant golf-ball glory, you could be knocking out Soarin’, Test Track, or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure before the crowds hit.

Plan Multiple Days for EPCOT

Next, Hangin’ At The Hangar Bar – A Disney Podcast shared, “Plan multiple days for Epcot during our trip. That way, we can do World Celebration, Nature, and Discovery on one day and then have an entire day for World Showcase. And also, Thank the Phoenicians.”

World Celebration Gardens in EPCOT

This is next-level EPCOT-ing, and we respect it. EPCOT is too big, too delicious, and too full of hidden gems to cram into a single day. A multi-day approach lets you fully enjoy World Celebration, Nature, and Discovery and soak in every pavilion without rushing through. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse for an extra day of festival food and drinks?

Always Drink the Beverly

Next, we’ve got Bradford who shared, “Always drink the Beverly.”

Beware…

If you know, you know. And if you don’t know – well, let’s just say Beverly is the ultimate EPCOT rite of passage. This Italian soda, found at Club Cool, is not for the faint of heart. But whether you love it or hate it, you have to try it at least once. It’s basically an EPCOT hazing ritual.

Living with the Land is NOT Optional

Lastly, we’ve got Vanessa who shared, “Living with the Land is NOT optional! It’s a must do!”

Living with the Land greenhouse

Vanessa gets it. Living with the Land is one of the most underrated rides in EPCOT. It’s relaxing, it’s educational, and if you time it right, you get a break from the Florida heat. Plus, the greenhouses you float through? That’s where they grow some of the food served in the park. How many rides can say that? Skip this one, and you’re missing out on an EPCOT classic.

  1. We always make time for the train-scape in Germany, the Koi pond in Japan and the Stave Church in Norway. No trip is complete without spending some time at each. Bier Garten Restsurant is a family favorite.

  2. Full co-sign on not missing Living With The Land!! My first stop in Epcot, is always the Land Pavilion! Then I go to Space: orange mission or bust!

Canada is my first stop in the World Showcase, because it’s “home”, and I want to enjoy lunch at Le Cellier!
