Have you heard the news? A HUGE ride change is coming to Disney World next week!
Since it opened in May 2022, there have been two ways to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — by Virtual Queue or by Lightning Lane Single Pass. While the Lightning Lane option isn’t going anywhere, Disney is no longer offering a Virtual Queue here or at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom on February 25th, meaning both will have a standby line. It’s great for many reasons, but there is one thing about it that’s making us anxious…
That one thing would be the wait times! We have a history to thank for this anxiety. When the Virtual Queue was removed for Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios, we frequently saw multi-hour wait times. Yes, some people waited as long as SEVEN hours for one ride!
Rise of the Resistance had a lot of hype around it, but Cosmic Rewind has become a fan favorite and is popular in its own right. EPCOT has some other heavy hitters, including Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille, and the new Test Track (opening later this year), but we think the lines for this Marvel ride will be long.
If you want to avoid the wait time, you can always purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Cosmic Rewind. We could also see these selling out faster than before, so be sure to grab it as soon as possible if it’s a priority for you.
To skip the line at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you’ll need to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Once you’ve purchased it and you are able to make Lightning Lane selections, we recommend choosing this as one of your first three options. These can fill up pretty quickly but hotel guests can make Lightning Lane selections seven days ahead of time, and all other visitors can make them three days ahead of time.
