2025 will probably go down and be known as the year full of closures at Disney World.

So far, 2025 closures include the permanent closures of Dino-Rama in DinoLand, U.S.A., an over-a-year-long refurbishment for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the refurbishment of the Astro Orbiter and The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, and sadly even MORE closures are on their way.
While we are still waiting on the official closing date of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, Disney’s latest closure announcement may have you wanting to move your vacation dates once again.
At the end of last December, we warned those who are traveling to Disney World this year to consider changing their travel dates as Disney World is already starting to look different. If you are hoping to experience as much of Disney World as possible and beat the latest closures, you will want to visit before May!

It has been known for a few months that Muppets Courtyard would close and be replaced with a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-inspired land in Hollywood Studios. We did not know when it would close, but we knew it would be sometime in 2025, as Disney shared that construction for the new land would start this year.

Well, now we have the official dates. Muppets Courtyard will begin a phased closure this May when Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano closes on May 10th. And just less than a month later, Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will close on June 7th. June 8th, Muppets Courtyard will be walled off and closed.

With this news, if you want to experience all of Muppets Courtyard one last time, you will have to do so before the phased closure begins.

As we mentioned, we do not know the exact dates for the closure of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. Still, we would advise you to visit this iconic Frontierland island ASAP before it closes to make way for the new Cars expansion.

Also, fans of It’s Tough to Be a Bug! should plan on becoming honorary bugs one last time, as the attraction is set to close and be transformed into a new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether by this winter.

Although Disney World is changing, and closure announcements are coming left and right, the good news is that tons of new offerings will debut this year. These additions include two new stage shows, a new nighttime parade, two new lounges, and Test Track 3.0!

We will continue to keep an eye out for any more closure news, so make sure to continue to follow along with AllEars!
