Things People Do That Cause Outrage in Disneyland

We’re about to have an honest discussion about people in Disneyland.

For the most part, most folks come to Disneyland to have a good time because it’s The Happiest Place on Earth. Let’s face it, these are times when visiting a happy place is more important than ever (and many of us considering Disneyland as therapy). BUT there are some things that people do in Disneyland that can cause outrage. So we’re going to outline those things so you’re not one of those people.

Stopping in the middle of a busy path

If you need to look at your phone, dig something out of your day bag, or stop for a photo, please do not come to a complete stop in the middle of a busy pathway.

Disneyland’s paths are already pretty full as is (because there’s only so much space in the park), so if you need to stop for a moment, try to move out of the way of foot traffic. This will also keep people from bumping into you while you’re stopped.

Not watching where you’re going with strollers

If you have a stroller in Disneyland, all we ask is that you keep an eye out of where you’re going with the stroller. It’s easy to run into people in Disneyland (due to the crowded walkways), meaning that it’s even easier to run into people when you’re pushing a stroller.

Keep an eye out for folks in front of you so that you don’t do any damage to others’ ankles.

Loudly reciting dialogue on rides

We don’t care if you’ve been to Disneyland hundreds of times and have memorized the entire Jungle Cruise spiel or Haunted Mansion Ghost Host dialogue. Others don’t want to hear you recite it. They paid good money to hear that dialogue for themselves.

If you can’t control yourself, quietly mouth the words so no one can hear you.

Flash photography on rides

Nearly every ride in Disneyland has signs and warnings to please not use flash photography on rides, and yet, people still ignore those warnings and blind everyone in their ride vehicle by snapping a photo.

Don’t be that person. If you want to take photos, make sure your flash is off first. Or better yet, put your phone or camera down and just enjoy the ride.

Not listening to Cast Members

Cast Members are there for your safety, so if they give you instructions for a ride or parade or anything else, please listen and pay attention. They’re trying to make the experience for you and everyone else as safe and enjoyable as possible.

This also goes for ride evacuations. Don’t try to get out of a ride vehicle until you’ve been instructed to do so by a Cast Member.

Comparing castles

Inevitably, someone is going to walk down Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland and make a loud remark about how the castle is “SO SMALL” at least compared to the castle in Disney World. That castle happens to be Walt’s original vision for the parks, so show some respect.

Also, you can go inside the castle — there’s a whole walkthrough attraction inside it that tells the story of Sleeping Beauty. You can’t go inside the castle in Florida without paying for an expensive meal.

Say something like “Well, in Disney World…”

We’re going to stop you right there. Disneyland and Disney World are very different, meaning that things are done differently in California than Florida. Lightning Lanes can’t be booked in advance, for example, but you do get ALL your PhotoPass photos with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Your MagicBand+ isn’t going to unlock your hotel room. There isn’t a dedicated shuttle service like Mears Connect that can get you from the airport to your hotel.

Yes, some things may seem more inconvenient if you’re used to the way things are done in Disney World. Make sure you know about these differences before you visit so you’re not surprised.

So if you’re visiting Disneyland, especially for the first time, keep these in mind and you’ll do just fine!
