Disney World Just Changed Its Iconic Cup Design and We NEED to Know Your Thoughts

In Disney World, the littlest things will bring you the greatest joy. And it’s in those little joys that makes being at Disney World so fun.

Fantasyland crowds at Magic Kingdom

This week, we got a fun little change that truly made us smile and we absolutely had to share it with you. Here’s a look at what we spotted!

Over at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, we spotted brand-new water cups at the BoardWalk Deli! We also found these in Magic Kingdom so they seem to be rolling out slowly but surely around Disney World.

Okay, okay, we know what you might be thinking: you’re excited about a cup?! But trust us, it’s much more than that.

Previous Disney World cup design

The previous design was a nod to the artist Mary Blair, who played a key role in the designs of classic Disney films such as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Cinderella. She is also notable for working on “it’s a small world” and creating the iconic look that we all love today.

The new cup’s design showcases another whimsical pattern against a bright turquoise background. This time certain park icons take center stage, including a Monorail, a Mickey balloon, a railroad train, Aurora’s crown, and Space Mountain.

Also featured are a Tiki Room bird, a skull with a pirate hat, Mickey’s shorts, EPCOT symbols, and a castle.

As well as Minnie’s iconic polka dots, and the Coca-Cola and Disney Parks logo. Our favorite part of the pattern, however, might be the clock from “it’s a small world” which we see as a nod to the previous cup design and Mary Blair herself.

So maybe this isn’t as exciting as a new attraction or a new favorite park meal, but the simple pleasures in life are just as nice (especially when they’re full of all of our favorite Disney things).

  1. They used the “It’s a Small World” theme because they have little left after throwing their founder, Walt Disney under the bus by replacing everything he’s ever done as if it were trash. Honestly, the current management is replacing gems with common junk in order to increase capacity and satisfy the misguided woke crowd, but they’re blind and shortsighted and they’re ruining the parks in the beautiful art and legacy of Walt Disney. It’s not something to be happy about, but rather something to lament over.

    1. Uhm. Woke? What’s wrong with respectong a person’s feelings? Tianas was a nice change. Representation matters. I am more than interested to see how they meld cars into that whole area but I am sure they can do it.

We did a fond farewell to Tom Sawyers Island in November. There were maybe 20 people there. And it was kinda crowded. So I get the change. Will potentially make other things less congested. Additionally, Disney isn’t just the old stuff, there is so much new stuff that they don’t even use as much as they could.
