It’s wild to think that 2025 will be here SO soon, so, of course, we’re already looking ahead to January of the New Year.

Now, 2025 is already going to be a really busy year in Disney World, and things will hit the ground running in January. There will be all kinds of construction while new lands and new attractions get built, while we’ll also see the temporary closure of some attractions for refurbishment. But one day in January 2025 is going to see a LOT of changes, and we wanted to make sure we gave you a heads up.
So January 13th is going to be a big day in Disney World, but it’s also going to be a bit of a sad day, too, especially for fans of DinoLand, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. That’s because the phased closure of the land will begin on that day, so a lot of things will be closing to begin making way for the new land coming to the area, Pueblo Esperanza.

On January 13th, TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will permanently close. Don’t worry, Dinosaur fans, Disney has plans to keep the ride open through most or all of 2025, so you’ll have one last chance to “go get that dino.”

However, those aren’t the only closures happening in Disney World on that date. In Magic Kingdom, Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland is closing for a months-long refurbishment on January 13th. Disney has not yet released a reopening date, but the closure is expected to last until summer 2025.

Note that other closures will happen in Disney World just before January 13th, too, including the lengthy closure of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, which happens on January 6th and is expected to last a year or longer. That’s also the date that Animal Kingdom’s Kali River Rapids and EPCOT’s Gran Fiesta Tour closes for refurbishment.
If you’ll be visiting Disney World in January, you’ll want to keep these closures in mind as they could impact your trip.

Hi James. The parks are open 365 days a year unless there’s a hurricane that comes through the area.
