Disney’s NEW Multi-Million Dollar Ticket System Is Here…But There’s a Catch

The Disneyland Resort is starting to look a little different!

Disneyland

Some MASSIVE expansions are coming to Disneyland in the coming years. We’ll be seeing new lands and attractions, dining, entertainment, lodging, and so much more. We’ll also be getting more modern tech, including at the front gates. In fact, recent developments indicate we might be seeing this upgrade in action very soon!

Throughout 2024, the Disneyland Resort has been working on a multi-million dollar project that features brand-new turnstiles at the gates for both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. We were able to try them out earlier this year, and now it appears we’re not too far off from the general park-going public being able to use them!

New Disneyland turnstiles

These new turnstiles (also called “tapstiles”) have popped up after lengthy construction at both Disneyland Park and California Adventure and are slated to open in 2025. Construction walls have been blocking this new-and-improved entry point but that is no longer the case.

The new “tapstiles” are still not available to use

The tapstiles are replacing the old-school turnstiles with kiosks that allow guests to “tap” in with a MagicBand+ while the kiosk use facial recognition technology and then enter through a small gate.

Are you excited to use them?

The new “tapstiles” aren’t in operation just yet, so if you’re visiting Disneyland soon, be prepared to enter the old fashioned way with a Cast Member scanning tickets and taking/checking photos. With that said, it appears we aren’t that far away from the new system finally becoming available.

Turnstiles at Disney California Adventure

The new entry system is akin to the one used at Disneyland Paris and is a precursor to a higher emphasis on MagicBand+ and enhancing speed and accessibility. We’ve seen Disney World use MagicBand+ to make the park-going experience easier and it seems like that trend is finally making its way to Anaheim.

Another look at the new turnstiles

We’ll continue to bring you updates from this innovative new way to enter the parks, as well as all the latest Disneyland news, tips, reviews, and more, so stay tuned right here at AllEars!

  1. I think it will be most effective if there was a separate line for people to hop over to if there’s a problem and they need more assistance so that the lines keep moving along for everyone else who has their tickets loaded and magic bands ready and know what they’re doing.
