CHANGES Hit the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom

If you ask us, the best part about Disney World is that no two days are ever alike.

Disney especially loves keeping us on our toes by making changes — whether big or small — that means we get to experience something new for the very first time. On a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we happened to notice something a little different about an iconic ride!

We recently stopped by Magic Kingdom (you know, since that’s our job) to see if anything new and exciting was going on and hopped on the Haunted Mansion. We wanted to see how 999 of our best friends were doing, you know? But, we weren’t expecting to be met with a subtle change on this ride!

Everything was hunky dory, and then as the ride was coming to an end, during the scene where the Hitchhiking Ghosts appear to be inside your Doom Buggy, we noticed that the ghosts looked a little bit different than the last time we rode it!

Gus, Phineas, and Ezra all appeared to be a bit more animated — almost 3D CGI-like — and brighter this time around. Not only that, but on our ride through, it didn’t seem like the ghosts were “messing” with riders as much as they had in the past.

Previously, the ghosts would interact with riders in the mirror by plucking their heads off their bodies and swapping them around — among other shenanigans — but it didn’t seem like that was the case when we rode.

When we spoke to Cast Members about these changes at the front of the ride, they noted that there were some syncing issues with the ghosts. That could mean that these ghostly changes are just temporary (like a b-mode) while Disney fixes the syncing problem behind the scenes.
