Would YOU Ever Stay in a 3D Printed Hotel? Now You Can!

Here at AllEars, we’re big fans of traveling, which means we’ve stayed in quite a few hotels.

From themed resorts to those made to be a tropical oasis to typical name-brand hotels in major cities, we’ve tried a wide variety of accommodations. But we can honestly say that we’ve never stayed in a 3D-printed hotel before!

Business Insider reports that a construction-tech startup called Icon is now 3D printing a hotel and a collection of homes in West Texas. The new rooms will be coming to the El Cosmico hotel and campground in Marfa, Texas.

Currently, El Cosmico is home to a variety of glamping units like yurts, campers, and tents, but in 2026, a collection of guest rooms with 3D-printed walls will be added to the available accommodations.

Icon is an Austin-based company that has recently been making a name for itself in the world of 3D-printed construction. In 2022, the company even unveiled a 2,000-square-foot luxury home with printed walls. Now, they’re working on a project to complete a community of 100 printed homes.

Icon notes that they’ll debut the “world’s first” 3D-printed hotel as part of the El Cosmico expansion in the next two years. They began designing the rooms in September, and when the project is complete in 2026, it will triple the size of the property. Icon is using its robotic Vulcan printing system, which prints with high-strength concrete.
