The $25 Disney World Hotel Upgrade We Can’t Live Without

This is one of our FAVORITE Disney hotel offerings.

Art of Animation

Hotels have been part of Disney World since the very beginning, with the Polynesian Village and Contemporary Resorts opening with the resort on October 1st, 1971. Over the years, nearly 30 hotels have been built at the resort in 3 major categories: Deluxe, Moderate, and Value Resorts. It’s that final category we’re focused on today.

Disney’s Value Resorts: The All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, Art of Animation, and Pop Century are some of the most popular on the property thanks to their comparably lower rates and family-friendly theming. However, there is a way to make the experience of staying at one of the value resorts even better… one which many guests miss out on.

Pop Century

For an extra $25, you can secure a preferred room at one of the value resorts. What’s the difference between a normal room and a preferred room? As they say in real estate, it’s all about location, location, location.

All-Star Sports Resort

Specifically, a preferred room at one of Disney’s value resorts is “located closer to the main transportation center, the pool or the dining area,” according to PlanDisney. Given the general layout of the value resorts – – a group of motel-style buildings built around a central lobby building – – the closer one is to that central hub, the much more convenient a stay they’ll have. Especially when it comes to spending using the Disney World bus system.

If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World value resort anytime soon and want to maximize your stay, we definitely recommend upgrading to a preferred room for its location. Stay tuned to AllEars for further Disney World travel hacks.

  1. It used to be you could get these rooms by reserving them before anyone
else. But Disney found another way to charge for something that used to be free.
Keep in mind that Value Resorts used to go for $50 per night. What are they
now? $200-$300 per night! Not my definition of Value…

  2. Can’t agree with the preferred room ‘upgrade.’ All this does is put you in the center of noise and traffic. It’s only a few more steps to much quieter, and less congested buildings.

  3. Last visit we were given a preferred room, even though we didn’t pay for it. Yes I prefer them. I’ve stayed at ever level of hotel and I love the values.
