In the midst of Disney World’s annual price increases lately, we happened to notice a price decrease.

We’ve been waiting for the opening of The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn for years now, though the time has finally come. Before its surprise opening, the restaurant released its menu — much to the shock and dismay of many fans. Now, it looks as though the fans may have forced a change.
The Cake Bake Shop was originally supposed to open in 2023, but it was later pushed back to the fall of 2024. Through October, we had seen some signs that we might be getting closer, like a new lightning effect added to the sign — oh yeah, and a huge menu reveal. Then, the restaurant surprised us by soft opening on October 24th!

Many fans (including us) were shocked to see some of the prices on the menu — even for a restaurant at Disney World, the cost for some simple items ($8 for a Coke?!) seemed outrageous.
When we announced that the menu had been released, our readers had some strong feelings. One said, “I look forward to the new restaurant after this ridiculous place closes. Trattoria al Forno has a terrific breakfast at a reasonable price. We will never set foot in The Cake Bake Ripoff. Just for context, we are owners at BoardWalk Villas.”

But, on a recent visit to the BoardWalk, we noticed the menus for Cake Bake Shop had been updated — with lower prices. For example, the Belgian Waffles were originally priced at $22 — but now are listed at $16.99. And, the Classic Burger with Pommes Frites decreased from its original price of $32 to $26.99 instead.

While not every menu item decreased in price, a vast majority of items did go down from what we’re seeing. Of course, we can’t be sure that the backlash from Disney fans is what led to this change — but either way, it’s a welcome one.

Disney notes that the new eatery presents a “whimsical atmosphere that complements the magic of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk that guests know and love.”
There is both a table service option and a to-go option here. The table service spot is called The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant. It’ll feature breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, desserts, and cocktails. The to-go side is called The Cake Bake Shop Bakery, and it features cookies, macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, cheesecakes, and MORE.

And, as long as people keep showing up, prices will keep going up.
What a waste…
PRICES ARE STILL TOO HIGH!
I was looking forward too trying the bakery, but the prices are STILL TOO
HIGH ON ALOT OF STUFF! PRICES NEED TO COME DOWN ALOT ON OTHER THINGS! YES I know that it is DISNEY World and they NEED TO MAKE MONEY(HA-HA)NOT THAT DISNEY DOESN’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY AS IT IS!THEIR GOING TO FRIGHTEN EVERYONE THAT COMES FROM OUT OF STATE AND THEY WILL NOT BEABLE COME TO THE PARKS ANYMORE!
The Cake Bake Shop isn’t owned by Disney, it’s owned by Gwendolyn Rogers. There are other CBS located outside of Disney World. (And yes, the prices are way too high).
Doesn’t matter who owns the Cake Bake Shop, Disney still charges ALL the owners a lease rent charge and knowing Disney that has to be outrageous also. Disney leans toward the elite and really could care less about the “Common Folk”. You can bet in less than a year the Cake Shop will be history and Disney will be looking for another sucker to occupy that space. When Bob Iger is making 28 million a year, someone’s got to pay for this.
