Hurricane Milton Kept Wait Times LOW at Disney World – Except for ONE Park on October 8th

Hurricane Milton has been looming at Disney World this week forcing the Florida Disney Parks to invoke park closures. Disney will continue to monitor the situation and we’ll let you know of any updates as they’re made available. Regardless, the wait time trends from October 8th suggest an interesting dynamic and what you might be able to expect once the parks reopen.

We checked out Disney World wait times from Tuesday, October 8th ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall and the results were kind of shocking, especially at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The wait times at Magic Kingdom were fairly expected. Waits were low all day with TRON Lightcycle / Run being the only attraction to hit an hour wait (and it did so only once). However, around 6PM we saw a ton of closures — a precursor to what the rest of the week will look like.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT showed very similar trends, with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure being the only EPCOT attraction to hit an hour wait and nothing over a 40-minute wait at Animal Kingdom from 1PM on.

While the looming hurricane seemingly kept away heavy crowds and long lines at three Disney World theme parks, one bucked the trend. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to several incredibly popular attractions, keeping it pretty busy on most days and October 8th was no exception.

The big rides still maintained consistent wait times close to or more than an hour, with Slinky Dog Dash and Rise of the Resistance getting up to a 75-minute wait, while Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster hit a rough 90-minute wait. Overall, it was common to see 50-plus-minute waits throughout the day for most of the major Hollywood Studios rides, so if you were looking to take advantage of low wait times right before the hurricane, your best bet was at a different park.
