The Force is equally strong… but the prices are different.

Back when Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge first opened at both Disneyland and Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, one of the surprising things about the land was that — for better or worse — the versions on each coast were pretty much identical. While that had happened with a few individual attractions over the years, it was unprecedented for a full-scale land. In the five years since, a few differences have been introduced that differentiate the experiences, and one of them really confuses us.
Two of the premiere experiences of Galaxy’s Edge are the Droid Depot droid-building experience and the Lightsaber-building experience at Savi’s Workshop. Both have long been promoted by Disney, and championed by guests, as key elements of Galaxy’s Edge.
Like most other elements of Galaxy’’s Edge, these experiences are essentially the same at each park… expect for the price.
At Disneyland, the Droid Depot droid-building experience costs $99.99, while at Walt Disney World it costs $119.99, an 18% increase.

Meanwhile, The Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber experience costs $219.99 at Disneyland, and $249.99 at Walt Disney World, approximately a 12% increase.

So why is that?
Well, there’s no easily identifiable answer. However, we have some speculative thoughts on the subject. Traditionally, Disneyland is a more locals-oriented, single-day experience where visitors may be a bit more cognizant of daily spending.

On the other hand, Disney World tends to draw in a more tourist-based visitor base, many of whom are in the midst of a long vacation. Yes, they’ll have a set budget of course, but they also may not find a 18% or 12% higher price to be a barrier in making a purchase the same way it may be to a single-day local visitor.

Two of Galaxy’s Edge’s premiere experiences cost more at Walt Disney World than they do at Disneyland, despite essentially being the same at both parks. Stay tuned to AllEars for further coverage of the differences between Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
