YIKES! You Can’t Count on These 4 Restaurants in Disney World Anymore

There are so many great places to dine at Disney World.

California Grill

Between bars, lounges, quick service, and table service locations, it can be overwhelming to choose where you and your party should dine. We go to Disney World every day, so we know a thing or two about choosing the best Disney World restaurants. Sometimes, our favorite places to dine start to let us down, which is unfortunate, but sometimes they do make a comeback. There are four restaurants that we used to always trust, but now we feel like we can’t rely on them anymore.

We used to dislike some restaurants, but now we love them, like Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom and ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios. However, there is a flip side: sometimes, restaurants we love turn into restaurants that we avoid or know we may be let down in.

Oga’s Cantina

Oga’a Cantina is a super popular bar in Galaxy’s Edge, and one of our favorite things to do was to snag a late reservation so we could close down the park and see Batuu empty. Lately, we feel like it is not the same as it once was, and we are not alone in this.

Did you know that you could leave reviews on our site about all things Disney World, including restaurants, hotels, attractions, and more? Our readers offer great and personal insights into their experiences to help you plan your Disney World vacation.

Services: Bar/Lounge

Our reader’s reviews of Oga’s Cantina reflect what we have been feeling as well. One reviewer gave Oga’s Cantina a one-star out of 10-star rating. They said that they are “usually a very tolerant and understanding person with wait times and the overabundance of Disney goers, but this was an absolutely terrible experience. Will not be coming back here and advise others not to indulge in this overpacked, poorly-run Disney spot. We had a 6:15 reservation, checked in 20 minutes early, and were seated FORTY-FIVE minutes later when told that we’d have a table in less than 20. Such wasted time we could have spent riding rides or exploring the park.”

Another reviewer gave Oga’s Cantina four out of 10 stars and said, “I just don’t love this place. This was my second time here, and I still didn’t enjoy it. We had a party of five. We got to stand at the bar – which is the thing I hate the most. When I go to a lounge, I want to sit down and relax.” They went on to say that “even for the most enthusiastic Star Wars fan, I think this is a one and done. I just don’t feel it’s worth going.”

We totally understand these frustrations, as it can be annoying when you hear so many great things about an immersive experience like Oga’s Cantina and leave feeling let down.

Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow is a quick-service snack stand located in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom. There was breaking snack news that ended up breaking our hearts over the summer. The iconic Sleepy Hollow waffle sandwiches were removed from the menu overnight and replaced with an array of Mickey Waffle treats. The waffle sandwiches were a must-get snack for us, and now we feel let down with their replacements. Once again, we are not alone; others are also disappointed with the change

One reader gave Sleepy Hollow five out of 10 stars and said that they feel the quality has declined. Another reader tried the Mickey Waffle with Sweet-and-Spicy Maple Chicken and gave it four out of 10 stars because they felt that it was “edible but just doesn’t reach the greatness of the original.”

We also miss the original menu, but on the bright side, Magic Kingdom has a spot where you can get Mickey Waffles all day.

We miss you!

‘Ohana

‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a super popular spot and often is a must-do for every vacation to Disney World. This all-you-care-to-enjoy spot is open for breakfast as a character meal and, at night, serves up some of our favorite foods like the ‘Ohana noodles and the ‘Ohana Bread Pudding. Lately, we have been a little worried about this spot.

Menus: Dinner, Breakfast
Services: Table Service

A reviewer left ‘Ohana a six out of 10-star review and said, “I think that the entertainment in the dinner is lovely and heartwarming. The staff is excellent, and nothing tops Disney’s service, in my opinion. I am giving this a six because it is very overly salted, lacking in high-quality flavors in all the items taken to our table, and so much food we felt horrible for not being able to take it with us. It’s just so very expensive and way too much for you not to be allowed to take it with you. Not a fan. Overall, it has overhyped food.”

One reviewer had a less-than-ideal experience and gave their experience a three out of 10-star review. They said, “As a party of two, we were seated at a small table along the wall and were basically forgotten about. The server kept apologizing but never made things right. The salad and bread were good. The skillet of appetizers was fair. But we had finished it, and no meat had been served. Once the waitress realized she had forgotten us again, she finally brought over two bowls of saucy meat. The chicken skin was rubbery, and the steak was burnt. I miss the days of the skewer delivery. I was looking forward to dessert, but the poor service really dampened the dining experience. Too bad because it used to be a great place to eat.”

Just like the reviewer above, we also miss the skewer delivery and the fun coconut races!

Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre

Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater in Hollywood Studios offers a unique dining experience. Once you step inside the restaurant, you forget you are in a theme park and can even lose track of time since it is always nighttime inside the restaurant. This experience is unique because you get to dine inside a car as if you are in a drive-in and enjoy short clips on the big screen.

We used to love dining here, but the menu and food quality have gone downhill.

While getting to dine in a car is fun, it can also be uncomfortable for smaller parties as they can sometimes have to share a car with another party. One reviewer left a one-star review and said, “My friend and I went here as a party of two and we got put behind a family and it was so uncomfortable. Also the seats are so little like for reference me and my friend are not big by any means (5’0 and 5’5) and our legs were like squashed into the car. It wasn’t that big of a deal but just be expecting that because we weren’t but thats on us for not researching. Anyways in my opinion the food wasn’t that good and it tasted cheap for the expensive price we had to pay. It probably wouldn’t have been that bad if the server wasn’t rude. I know sometimes it gets busy but it wasn’t even busy in there. I wouldn’t personally recommend it, but if you have a party big enough to fill the three rows of the car (two each) and don’t mind being squished in then id say try it out.”

Seating at Sci-Fi

A six-star review said, “Sci-Fi has been one of our favorites for over 15 years.” They went on to say, “The menu was different and much shortened. No steak at all and this to us was always a treat. I had the Classic American Burger for lack of an entrée that wasn’t bathed in a butter sauce or mayonnaise. It was an ok burger -nothing special.”

Prepare to watch the same clips over and over

We hope that Sci-Fi can update the reel that plays on the screen as well as their menu to make it an all-around great dining experience once again.
