5 Things We’re Begging You To Stop Buying at Magic Kingdom

We know there is only so much room in your luggage to pack items for your upcoming Disney World trip, but there are a few items we think are essential to bring with you from home.

Magic Kingdom

If you’re excited for your trip to Magic Kingdom, there are five items that you might want to pack in your suitcase instead of grabbing in the park. These items can be pricey if you buy them at Magic Kingdom, so why not save some money on the things you already know you’re going to want with you in the park?

Princess Dress

You’re headed to the land of princesses with Cinderella’s very own castle, that means your little one is going to want the be the fairest of them all. Yes, you could stop by Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or Sir Mickey’s shop to grab a dress, but you’ll end up paying A LOT more than if you simply packed one (or 4).

You can get a whole set including a cute storage trunk for nearly the price of one outfit in Magic Kingdom. You’re kiddo will be all dressed up as their favorite Disney Princess before even getting to the park.

Rain Poncho

We hope this doesn’t come as a shock to you, but it rains in Florida, A LOT. It’s currently still hurricane season until November, and even outside of hurricane season it can (and will) rain every day. Come prepared before getting to the parks with a better quality and less expensive poncho!

Emma in her Frogg Toggs Poncho

Emma loves her Frogg Toggs poncho. It works really well and is large enough to fit over a backpack. It even comes with its own waterproof pouch so you don’t get all your items wet in your backpack.

Emma’s fav!

Unlike the ponchos you can buy in the park, the Frogg Toggs poncho will last you for multiple uses and stores nicely. We suggest packing this for your trip and not buying one last minute in Magic Kingdom.

Umbrella

On the opposite end of the weather spectrum, not only will you see rain on your trip, but you’ll also likely be in A LOT of sun. Sunny Florida can be HOT. So protect yourself with a mini UV umbrella! You likely won’t find one in Magic Kingdom, and if you do, it will probably cost you a lot more than if you had simply packed one with you.

Mini UV Umbrella

Emma enjoys having this mini travel umbrella with her on those hot humid days. It’s small enough and comes in a carrying case that it can fit right into your park bag!

It zips up into a small travel case!

Essentials like these will cost you more in the parks, so it’s generally easier to pack them with you before you leave home.

Character Signing Book

We’ve been going to Disney World for a long time, and we sadly those character signing books we had as children are so easy to lose or forget about. Yes, it’s lots of fun getting signatures from all your favorite characters, but instead of buying an overpriced book that you may never look at again, bring a small picture frame with you to gather signatures on with a permanent marker!

When you get back from vacation you can add a cute family photo in the frame and display it in your home with all the cute signatures! It’s a much better way to keep all those memories.

Another great option we like better than those signature books is a water bottle! You’ll likely want to carry a water bottle with you anyway (it saves money on buying plastic water bottles and you don’t have to constantly stop for the small free cups), so bring a permanent marker and have the characters sign the water bottle!

A water bottle like this Owala one can be a fun keepsake!

You’ll continue to use this water bottle for years to come, and the fun signatures will be a constant reminder of all the memories you made with the characters.

Bubble Wand

Bubble wands can be SPENDY in the parks! Yes, they’re fun, but the bubbles can only be seen during the day and can be a nuisance to those around you. Instead, bring a less expensive light-up toy with you!

These are fun for nighttime shows or even during the day as you’re walking around the parks. You’ll likely spend less on one you buy on Amazon than one in Magic Kingdom, and they’re compact enough to fit in your suitcase!

We know you can’t fit EVERYTHING into your luggage, but if you’re going to end up buying these in Magic Kingdom anyway, you might as well save a little money, get something with better quality, and come prepared.
