Hurricane season in Disney World

If you’re heading on vacation or you’re local to the area, you’ve likely been following along with the updates. For a little while, we were sitting at tropical storm status, but now we have an update.

As of Wednesday, September 25th, Tropical Storm Helene is now Hurricane Helene. This means that the wind speed is between 74 MPH and 110 MPH currently.

Projections for the storm’s trajectory have it making landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast around 7PM Thursday night. It’ll then travel north through parts of Georgia and Alabama. The cone contains the probable path of the storm but does not show the size of the storm. Keep in mind that hazardous conditions can occur outside the cone.

Tropical Storm conditions are expected among much of Florida’s southern and eastern coasts, so residents of those areas will want to be prepared for heavy winds and rain. The same goes for people currently located in Central Florida.

Rainy Day in Magic Kingdom

At this time, we’re monitoring conditions for major vacation destinations in the Central Florida area. Disney World has announced that Typhoon Lagoon will be closed on Thursday, September 26th, but we’ll be on the lookout for any additional changes.
