If you know anything about Disney World, you know that the Polynesian Village Resort is one of the most iconic hotels on Disney property.

Its got wonderful tropical vibes and great views of Magic Kingdom, so it’s no surprise that this place has a loyal following. But here’s the thing, people are starting to avoid staying here until 2027, so let’s talk about it!
The Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is currently undergoing a pretty massive transformation. A new hotel tower is getting added to the resort and has an anticipated opening date of December 17th.

The new tower will be a Disney Vacation Club building with villas and bungalow options that can be reserved with DVC points or by non-DVC members at a cash value. There will be a new restaurant, a stunning terrace garden, and a new splash pad and pool.

In some Disney fan’s mind is that December can’t come soon enough! But that’s also exactly why some fans are holding off until 2027 to come to the hotel. Get this — the construction around the resort will be continuing right on through 2026.

According to official messages from Disney, parts of the resort will be under refurbishment until 2026, which means guests will be dealing with construction noise and limited views for the foreseeable future.

Here’s what Disney is saying: “Now through 2026, you may see and hear construction and refurbishment work during daytime hours. The ongoing enhancements may impact views of the theme park and other surrounding areas. To minimize disruptions during your stay, activities that may create noise will begin no earlier than 9:00 AM.”

So, if you do stay at the resort in 2025, you won’t be woken up at the crack of dawn by construction crews, but if you’re hoping for a peaceful morning sipping your coffee on the balcony with a clear view of Cinderella Castle, you might want to adjust your expectations, or pick a different resort altogether.

While Disney does its best to minimize disruptions, there’s no getting around the fact that this multi-year project is a big deal. For a lot of guests, this means avoiding the Polynesian until the dust quite literally settles by 2027.

If you’re not too bothered by construction, you might score a decent stay. But if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing escape, you may want to hold off on booking that Polynesian stay for a few more years.

Bookings for the new tower are open now! If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. THAT is the ugliest hotel imaginable and totally NOT suitable or in theming for Disney World. ANYWHERE and especially NOT near the polynesian.
NO. The interior is too bland, too beige. I prefer the regular Disney resorts over DVC accommodations.
