We Went Behind-the-Scenes of the NEW Disney on Ice Show!

There’s a BRAND NEW Disney On Ice show in town — and we got to go backstage!

We love Disney On Ice because they combine our favorite Disney characters, songs, and stories with incredible ice skating, aerial tricks, acrobatics, and more. This new show is full of exciting entertainment that’ll have you out of your seat and we’re giving you a sneak peek!

We were invited for a preview of the brand-new show, Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance! by Feld Entertainment, the producers of these incredible performances. Let’s Dance! puts Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy in the DJ booth to bring you EDM remixes of your favorite Disney songs into “colorful worlds.”

Audiences get to become part of each story as it unfolds with live hosts, up-close character interaction, surprise moments, and lots of audience participation in the form of dancing! Let’s Dance! features scenes from Wish, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Frozen 2, and Moana. 

Before the show, we got to see some of the show elements behind the scenes — like performer Masaki Kondo showing us how the sway pole works. Show director Adam Loosely explained that he was inspired to come up with the concept for the show at an EDM music festival — and Let’s Dance was born!

Adam Blake, choreographer, spoke to us about how each dance is created and, along with some incredible skaters, showed us a few numbers before we got to see the actual show.

There are over 40 performers and 42 different characters in this new show, which means there are also over 250 costumes and 1200 costume pieces, too! Hundreds of thousands of Swarovski crystals are used in these costumes as well.

These dynamic and high-energy performances feature cutting-edge figure skating choreography, aerial stunts, acrobatics, adagio pair skating, and plenty of ramp tricks on the ice.

We got to see scenes from Wish — it was incredible to see this movie brought to life on the ice and see how the creative team made Star a part of the show.
