OPENING DATE for Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park Revealed

Disney World has two water parks for you to enjoy on vacation.

Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon takes you to a deserted beach far out to sea where you’ll find a wave pool, sweet slides, a lazy river, and tasty food — Kowabunga, dude! Blizzard Beach is the other water park in Disney World where it’s winter all the time! You’ll also find awesome attractions, a wave pool, a holiday-themed lazy river complete with Santa Claus, and more delicious eats. When one of these water parks is open, the other is closed, and it appears they’re being rotated once again soon!

A while back, Disney used to keep both water parks open during the summer and close one during the winter for refurbishment. Each year the closed park would rotate. Then, after the pandemic in 2020, Disney stopped having both open at the same time and now rotates them throughout the year.

On March 17th, 2024, Blizzard Beach closed and Typhoon Lagoon reopened. Since then, the island water park has remained open and held the After Hours events H2O Glow Nights. But its time open is coming to an end soon.

On November 4th, Typhoon Lagoon stops showing hours on the Disney website, while on that same day Blizzard Beach begins showing operating hours. Blizzard Beach seems to be continuing its winter theme by being open in the winter once again.

Based on the trend we’ve been seeing over the past few years, it’s likely that Blizzard Beach will remain open through the winter and Typhoon Lagoon may reopen starting in the spring of 2025.

Blizzard Beach certainly is a fun water park and is known for its exciting water rides. Summit Plummet is a particularly popular water slide that goes straight down 12 stories, 360-feet of Mount Gushmore.  You can also ride Slush Gusher, Teamboat Springs, and race each other down Toboggan Racers. There is also a cute kids’ area — Tike’s Peak!

If you’re heading to Disney World this winter, don’t worry, there will likely be some nice days for a trip to the water park! Just remember that you’ll need to visit Blizzard Beach, NOT Typhoon Lagoon starting November 4th.
