Is anyone over all the announcements we got at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event?

I mean, we weren’t ready for all the goodness that’s coming to Magic Kingdom. Are you ready for the new nighttime parade, Villains Land, and Cars Land? With all that in mind, we just had a thought and it shook us. Do we have to be worried about another opening day attraction in Magic Kingdom with all these expansions? Let’s talk about it!
As we were saying, there are some serious expansions coming to the Magic Kingdom. While adding new lands, like the Cars Land and Villains Land, is super exciting, we’re starting to feel some serious concerns. Specifically, what’s going to happen to our beloved Walt Disney World Railroad? Will it be closing for these construction projects?

So before we get carried away just know that nothing has been officially announced yet. However, if you’ve been around the parks long enough, you know that these speculations tend to hold a bit of truth. Also, let’s be real, the Railroad has a bit of a history when it comes to long closures.

Do you remember when the Walt Disney World Railroad closed for what felt like forever because of other recent projects (we’re looking at you TRON Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure)? It took some years before we could hear that iconic “All aboard!” again.

And that’s the thing. The Railroad is one of those opening day attractions that’s been around since 1971. It’s a classic and absolutely one of those “must-dos” that ties the whole park together. It’s just that it seems like every time there’s a brand-new, shiny project on the horizon, the Railroad is the first thing to get the short end of the stick.

Now, even thought there’s a ton of buzz around the different expansion projects, we’re getting a bit nervous. Sure, the idea of zooming through Radiator Springs and exploring the dark and mysterious Villains Land sounds incredible, but we have to be honest that the thought of losing the Railroad, again for an extended length of time isn’t exactly thrilling.

Again, nothing has been officially confirmed, we’re just saying you should be prepared just in case.

In the meantime, we’ll have to hope that Disney finds a way to keep the Railroad chugging along while they’re making room for the new lands.
We’re on the lookout for all the details on all the upcoming projects in Magic Kingdom. In the meantime, keep following AllEars for more Disney news!
