Disney World Just Made a HUGE Change to the Haunted Mansion Ride!

We’re not the type of Disney World visitors who can sit passively on the Haunted Mansion attraction and daydream about happy haunts. We’re on constant alert. Look — there’s the Candleman! Check it out; that singing bust is actually a Disney Legend! And yes, we know all about the Pepper’s Ghost trick. The Haunted Mansion has a long, detailed history, and this classic Disney attraction has come a long way since it debuted.

Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom

Although this is a pretty old attraction at this point, it’s still got plenty of new (and old) tricks up its sleeves. In fact, we just spotted a familiar face BACK in his rightful spot in the Mansion. Come with us to see what’s new in Magic Kingdom!

It’s true that the Haunted Mansion is full of 999 happy haunts, but one particular ghost has not been visible to us foolish mortals for a while. You can see him here in this old Disney concept art, sitting at a picnic table with a cheerful companion.

Well, this dapper ghost is BACK in the graveyard scene in the Haunted Mansion! He was spotted sitting (by himself, hopefully not for long!) at a picnic table near the end of the ride.

Here’s a closer look at the ghost! He’s got his top hat and overcoat, just like the original sketch. You can even see a candelabra at his table, which has been seen in previous iterations of this scene but is not pictured in the concept art.

Look who it is!

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled to see if his companion joins this friendly ghost! He looks like he could use a friend, don’t you think?

A solo picnic

This marks the most recent addition to the Haunted Mansion, but it’s far from the first new detail to join the attraction over the past few months.

See that figure? It’s the Candleman!

We spotted the Candleman in the attic scene back in 2023, and if you don’t know the history behind this spooky fellow, we highly recommend reading this post.

Is Disney’s Haunted Mansion Based on a Real House?

Oh, and the Hatbox Ghost made quite a splash when he arrived in the Magic Kingdom.

Hatbox Ghost

This famous ghost uses a tricky effect to materialize back and forth between his body and his famous hatbox. It’s a fun trick!
