One of Magic Kingdom’s Most POPULAR Rides Was Only Open for a Grand Total of 2 Hours…YIKES!

If you’ve ever been to Disney World, you know that things just sometimes happen and rides close.

This happens with outdoor rides when bad weather moves into Florida (which — let’s face it — can happen a lot). Sometimes rides just have technical issues but are back up and running within a few hours. Then there are times when a ride stays closed for most of the day, and that’s what happened yesterday, August 15th, with a popular Magic Kingdom ride.​

Yesterday, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had a ROUGH day. It was closed at the park open, and it stayed closed for a long time…until 7PM. So that meant if you were visiting Magic Kingdom yesterday, you only had a two-hour window to ride this popular ride. This is probably why those two hours also had ride wait times of up to 60 minutes.

So what can you do if this happens on your day in Magic Kingdom? Well, you can always ride the other mountain, Space Mountain, although we know it’s not quite the same. If your big priority ride has an extended closure like this, the only thing you can do is keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to see when it reopens and make a dash to that ride’s queue as fast as you can.
